Ferrero Launches Vegan Nutella in European Markets Ferrero has finally introduced Nutella Plant-Based, a vegan version of its world-famous chocolate hazelnut spread. This long-anticipated product launched in Italy, France, and Belgium on 4th September, aligning with Nutellaโs 60th anniversary. The vegan Nutella marks a significant shift for Ferrero as it seeks to cater to the increasing number of consumers who are reducing or eliminating animal products from their diets. @Thomas Chatenier, Ferreroโs Global President of Nutella, emphasised:ย ย โWe developed this innovation to provide a delicious new choice that delivers the unmistakable Nutella experience in a plant-based version. [โฆ] Offering the same great taste, smooth texture, and excellent quality that the Nutella brand is known and loved forโ. The biggest change in vegan Nutella is the replacement of dairy milk powder with chickpeas and rice syrup, a move that follows five years of research and development. This new formula allows Nutella Plant-Based to replicate the sweet, creamy texture of the original spread, but with plant-based alternatives that appeal to vegans, those with lactose intolerance, or those who prefer a plant-based lifestyle. The jar is made of 60% recycled glass, and the lid is crafted from recyclable plastic derived from a mass balance approach that mixes virgin and recycled materials. Jasmijn De Boo, CEO of ProVeg International, praised Ferreroโs step toward plant-based alternatives but urged the company to consider more sustainable ingredient options: โWe hope Ferrero will further improve their product with a sustainable alternative to palm oilโ. Currently, Nutella Plant-Based is available in Italy, France, and Belgium, but Ferrero has ambitious plans for further expansion. The company is planning a broader release in other European countries in 2025, including a confirmed launch in Germany in January, coinciding with Veganuary. This expansion reflects Ferreroโs interest in tapping into the growing plant-based market, which is predicted to increase in value to $813 million by 2034. Vanessa Brown, Head of Trademarks at the Vegetarian Society, also applauded Ferrero's move: โWe welcome Ferreroโs efforts to meet the needs and expectations of the millions of consumers following plant-based and vegan diets. We are pleased to announce that Nutella Plant-Based meets the Vegetarian Societyโs strict criteria for vegan accreditationโ. By offering a plant-based alternative at a competitive price pointโsignificantly more affordable than many existing vegan spreadsโNutella Plant-Based opens up new possibilities for consumers, especially in regions where access to such products has been limited.ย ย As Ferrero looks to triple its sales in the plant-based category, the launch of Nutella Plant-Based could pave the way for further innovations within its product range. The company is already working on a vegan version of its popular Hanuta biscuits, expected to hit shelves in 2025.ย

Let's talk about vegan food. Is it always healthy? ๐ฑ Imagine a garden full of colorful fruits and veggies. Now, think of a pantry stocked with chips and soda. Both are plant-based, but theyโre not the same, right? ๐ ๐ฅ Healthy vs. Unhealthy Plant Foods ๐ฅ Healthy plant-based foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, and nuts are great! They can cut the risk of type 2 diabetes nearly in half. ๐ But junky plant foods, like crisps and sugary drinks, aren't so friendly to our health. ๐ญ ๐ What About Animal Foods? ๐ Animal foods, like meat and cheese, can be harmful if eaten too much. Reducing them and increasing healthy plant foods can help us live longer and healthier lives. ๐ฟ Moving towards a plant-based diet can be a gentle shift. Think of it as planting seeds for better health. ๐ฑ ๐ Big Changes, Big Rewards ๐ If you have a serious condition like diabetes, it might be easier to avoid certain foods altogether rather than just cutting back. Imagine telling someone to drink less alcoholโitโs easier to stop entirely! ๐ Making big changes can lead to big results. When you see quick improvements in weight and blood sugar levels, youโll feel motivated to keep going. ๐โ๏ธ ๐ช Why Choose Plant-Based? ๐ช Many people choose plant-based diets for general wellness, better energy, and stronger immune systems. ๐ They feel in control of their health, happier, and healthier overall. ๐ป Some choose it for the animals or the planet, too. ๐พ๐ ๐ฉ But Not All Vegan Foods Are Healthy! ๐ฉ Even the strictest vegan can eat unhealthy foods. Think of a cake loaded with frosting and Oreos, or a snack of vegan chips and pies. ๐ฐ Theyโre vegan, but not healthy! We need to focus on whole, unprocessed plant foods. ๐ฅฆ ๐ Studies Showโฆ ๐ Researchers at Harvard created two types of plant-based diets for study: healthy and unhealthy. They found that a diet rich in whole plant foods is best for reducing diabetes risk. ๐ Junky plant foods? Not so much. ๐ They concluded that plant-based diets are great for lowering diabetes risk, but it's crucial to choose the right kinds of plants. ๐ฅ ๐ฟ Pro-Vegetarian Patterns ๐ฟ Adopting a pro-vegetarian eating pattern, which means eating more plant foods and fewer animal foods, can lead to a longer, healthier life. Itโs like watering your garden regularly for it to flourish. ๐ท ๐ Make the Change ๐ If youโre facing health issues, making a big change can be more effective than slow adjustments. Think of it as leaping over a puddle rather than tiptoeing through it. ๐ฆ Quick, significant changes can bring fast improvements, boosting your motivation. ๐ ๐ Final Thoughts ๐ Labels like vegetarian or vegan tell us what you donโt eat. But โwhole food, plant-basedโ nutrition tells us what you do eatโthe healthiest foods available. ๐ #PlantBased #VeganHealth #HealthyEating #WholeFoods #DiabetesPrevention #NutritionTips #Wellness #HealthyLifestyle #ProVegetarian #EatTheRainbow #WholeFoodPlantBased #HealthyChoices
