Arielle Elliott’s Post

As you may already know, I serve on the Board of Everybody Wins DC, a non-profit I care deeply about that offers free reading programs to children across the DC region, and we need your help. Research conducted by education officials has confirmed what we at EWDC already knew – the pandemic has had a disastrous impact on literacy and behavioral achievement for elementary schools, with Black and Hispanic students seeing larger declines than their peers. If children can’t read, or haven’t developed critical social-emotional skills, they are less likely to succeed at school or in life. That’s why EWDC is doing more than ever to help children build these essential foundational skills. Last year, our one-on-one mentoring, read-aloud activities, and book distributions reached more than 6,000 children across the DC region. This year, our goal is to do even more. It’s what our kids need and deserve. That’s why I am asking for your support. Since our launch in 1995, EWDC programs have been 100% free for families, schools, and community partners. We can do this for our students because of what people like you do for EWDC. Every dollar makes a difference. Please make a gift today so we can give our students a better tomorrow.
