Many people have asked me how they can get involved with Disabled Music Fans Collective. I now have an answer! We have several volunteer opportunites available, detailed below. Board of Directors: We are looking for a group of individuals willing to provide oversight to our activities and participate in regular voting. This Board of Directors will help us as we navigate the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Terms will be for one year with the possibility of continuing. Board application: https://lnkd.in/g72GxvvB Volunteer Team Members: We would like to bring on individuals who are passionate about music and advocacy to assist with our day-to-day operations. There are plenty of ways to help, regardless of skill set. We anticipate a commitment of no more than 5 hours per week. There's also an option to join us on a project-by-project or otherwise temporary basis! Volunteers may come and go as their capacity allows. It's Christmas! Well almost. For many of us, we're gearing down in the lead-up to the big day. But for many of our volunteers, especially those involved in local churches, they'll be hitting peak business for the year. If you know or manage a volunteer, here are three ways you could encourage them in this busy time: 1. Send them a Christmas Card signed by the team/office/yourself 2. Take an interest in their Christmas causes. Where are they giving their time, and *why*? 3. Ask about their Christmas plans. Who are they seeing? How will they celebrate the season? Reward and recognition don't always need to be big. Each of these suggestions is small and simple, but that's OK. Because each one communicates that you're thinking of them, that you care about them, and you're interested in what matters to them. And with volunteer recognition, much like Christmas gifts, it's the thought that counts. 🎅 #volunteers #volunteering #christmas

Just a reminder, April is filled with a lot of celebrations and National days/weeks. Two of my favorites are National Volunteer Month and National Volunteer Appreciation Week. This is the time for us individually to get involved (if we aren't already) in something that positively impacts our communities at large. This is also the highlighted time for organizations to honor and celebrate the hard work and dedication of their volunteers. May your organization have 5 volunteers or thousands serving your mission and clients daily, recognition of their commitment to serve also helps in retaining them. So remember to spend extra time this month to acknowledge your volunteers. They are more than just a number in your reports. They are people who chose to make a difference through your organization. And whether they are with you for one day, one month, one season, one year, or more... they deserve recognition. Many of our programs, organizations, institutions, and the like would truly be nothing without our volunteers.
