We need lively debate within the Marine Corps, not what's been going on for the last few years. 'The Marine Corps is being undermined by a corporate approach to personnel management where civilian “best practices” are replacing our traditional values of the “needs of the service” and by a narrowly defined focus on long-range rockets and missiles to win future battles. Some of the changes have been directed by elected and appointed officials. However, most of the injuries to our glorious Corps have been self-inflicted, such as the unnecessary discarding of tanks and the deep and harmful cuts in cannon artillery.' #usmc #marinecorps #marines #forcedesign2030 National Review https://lnkd.in/g8MedVXa

This is critical engagement that needs to happen to connect policymakers and investors together ... and to see projects that can enhance the industrial base both for national security needs but also to develop products for the consumer markets. Also important to stress how the stability in which business thrives rests on effective military deterrents.

#ForceDesignFriday Speaking with a senior DoD leader, they asked me, "Ryan, when does a strategy shift from pursuing the objectives to overcoming resistance?" I had never heard it worded that way before. Whenever there is change, specifically military change, it will be met by resistance. A 1996 article discussing the USMC's strategy of change, known as "Sea Dragon" by Major Paul Damren, discusses this exact topic. I would suggest this article is just as applicable today regarding FD2030, as it was then as it will be in the future.
