In early Sep 1939, the Polish Army launched a counterattack on the invading German forces near the Bzura River. The Poles had some initial success, but ultimately, the Germans prevailed. AUP can present a VSR on this battle that offers many insights into LSCO with a focus on both offensive and defensive operations. https://lnkd.in/gypdsNm

The tank is obviously still very very important but define effectiveness? How do you measure it? Is it lethality, fire power, manoeuvre, speed? Is it the time from 1st contact to identify and taking out a target (TTK)? Is it in a 1-1 situation? Is that with infanrty support? where is this being measured? how is the terrain? open field, forest, mountain, marsh land, in urban? To my humble opinion the most effective weapon against a #tank in the current state without appropriate protection is infantryman with cheap 2000 bucks drones carrying an RPG, mortar grenade or even a shell, supported by #TacticalCEMA en #EWsupport to find targets and to support the fielded units as an early warning and intel for force protection. Shoot and Scoot just doesn't cover it anymore, it is now Shoot while Scoot from Safety... In the near future tanks will and must be outfitted with C-UAS capabilities and loitering capable ammunition that are integrated into the fire control and C2 environment of the tank. In a combined arms approach multiple tanks and multiple assets bringing a mix of protection and alternative attack options other then the main cannon will bring back the glory to the tank it had. But not alone in a tank vs tank setting. At this moment, sorry cavalry people, it is certainly not as effective as you hope it to be.
Is the tank over? In 50 years there has been little improvement to basic design and function. In the last two years we’ve seen modern armor on a modern battlefield… with mixed results. The Abrams tank is nearing 50 years old…. It will be oldest tank ever in use by the U.S. Army (and the same can be said for other Allies and their tanks). Are we drawing the right conclusions from Russias illegal war in Ukraine? Are we “over” the tank? Do we need to move on? Some conclusions from the U.S. Army’s announced restructuring could mean that the U.S. is looking past the tank into a new era. Will the tank survive? Or is there something new on the horizon?

The Russian economy is on a wartime footing and is mobilizing. Ours is not. That has significant (negative) implications for global security in the next decade, most of all, of course, in Ukraine.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announces the creation of 2 new ground armies, with 16 new brigades and 14 new divisions. That’s more than the combined armies of 🇩🇪🇬🇧🇫🇷🇵🇱🇪🇸🇳🇱🇸🇪. Post-election mobilization is coming.
