🤯Xinjiang = Switzerland, Russia, + MORE? “Travel the whole world” through China 🌏 Forget “two birds, one stone” or “一石二鸟”... As you can see here, China’s domestic tourism is more like 10 birds, 1 stone! That’s why travelling within China has turned into a massive hype. 🔥Just how popular is it? --> In the last quarter of 2023 - 1.22+ billion domestic tourist trips were made. --> Chinese New Year holiday 2024 alone - marked a wild 34.4% increase compared to last year. This thriving domestic travel economy emerged during the post-pandemic period... As travel restrictions/uncertainty inspired Chinese people to explore provinces within the country (rather than travelling abroad). 🙌 But it wasn't JUST that, the central + local governments also *took action* to further boost this industry. Foreign countries take notes! 😉 【Better Transportation】 Transportation in China’s lower-tier cities has improved significantly over the past year. From railways, civil aircraft, to waterways – ALL making travel easier + more enjoyable. On top of that, better quality AND cheaper made-in-China EVs have helped young travellers embark on much-needed independent road trips, for escapes into nature! 【Culture Tourism Boom】 Nearly ALL local governments in China are now advocating for their own *cultural tourism*. 💡It’s called 文旅 (Wén lǚ) = promoting the unique culture & lifestyle of the regions. We’ve witnessed many successful cases already, just to name a few... Harbin: icy winter wonderland Hainan: duty-free shopping paradise Zibo: mouthwatering BBQ city Xi’an: ancient Han costume cosplay --> All using engaging short videos, influencer partnerships, & content marketing to win over tourists. This Xinjiang video is another great example! Brands can also effectively tap into these exciting markets through a strong city marketing strategy. (DM me if you’d like to know more!) Have you been to China? P.S. Is it possible to “travel the world” anywhere ELSE? 🤔 Arnold Ma #china #travel #culture #tourism
Arnold Ma Cyrus Janssen 王德中 What a great post, thank you Arnold. Let's hope that it's not becoming hijacked. I spent some 10,000 km there both for leisure and business and could not agree more. Sometimes mountains, alpine fauna and flora are just two hours driving away from desert and camels. And there was that famous sign on the G30 around km 3676 that says "comrade driver, check the fuel level of your vehicle, next gas station 5km, next exit 178km". I am an introvert, now THAT is my place :-D. Little quiz: (1) what are these vertical arrow signs for (Altai part of the video, 05 seconds before video ends) (2) There is one ethnic group (of the 56) that is not present in Xinjiang, which one is it?
How safe is China to visit being a totalitarian communist regime?
While I appreciate the comparison, Xinjiang's cultural and geographical context is distinct. It might be more accurate to consider its similarities with Kazakhstan due to shared cultural and historical ties.
Mind-blowing 😍
And how many days would it take to visit all these places in province Xinjiang that you share with us
Xinjiang (Ürümqi, Kashgar) and Heilongjiang (Harbin), two of my favourite places in China. The first, an incredible part of the world that still holds the charm and mystery of the Silk Route era. The second, a winter wonderland like you've never seen before with a heavy dose of Russian culture (and people).
The interiors of China, especially the Highlands- Tibet, Qinghai, Sichuan and of course the more remote areas such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia etc, are some of the most beautiful places in earth. Breathtaking , even of breathing can be rather difficult at such high altitudes!
What a great post Arnold!
