A quick heads up, B&NES will be starting their Local Plan Options Consultation on Monday the 12th of February, which will be running until the 25th of March. The new B&NES Local Plan will cover a twenty year period (2022 -2042) and replace the adopted B&NES Core Strategy, Placemaking Plan and Local Plan Partial Update (LPPU). The standard method figure of housing need is 725 homes per annum, or 14,500 over the twenty year plan period. This does not take into account unmet need from Bristol, which will be considered as part of the plan preparation process. Once existing commitments and windfalls are deducted, this leaves just over 6,000 homes to be provided on new allocations. A range of location options have been identified, which could accommodate up to 10,000 homes in total, so not all will make it through to the final Plan.   Four strategy options are being tested, which include two based around accommodating the standard method derived figure with a varied reliance on Green Belt release. Another option accommodates a higher level of growth with more significant Green Belt release. A final option excludes Green Belt release but accommodates a lower level of growth than the standard method figure. An extract of some of the key pages can be found below.
