I'm genuinely excited to see (and share) the recent McKinsey & Company report on the state of tourism and hospitality in 2024.
Here are the top themes, most of which you'll recognize:
🌍 Sustainability: Eco-friendly practices and sustainable tourism are becoming vital, with travellers prioritizing environmental responsibility and conservation. (This is true on an individual and macro level.)
🌍 Changing Demographics in Luxury Travel: Younger, affluent travellers—net worth $100k-$1M—drive demand for unique, high-quality experiences, valuing brand prestige and personalized amenities. (Bring on legendary experiences!)
🌍 Digital Transformation: AI, big data, and mobile tech are revolutionizing customer engagement and operational efficiency, offering more personalized services. (Looking forward to more AI travel assistants moving beyond the beta stage.)
🌍 Health and Wellness: Comprehensive wellness offerings, from fitness classes to health-focused menus and mindfulness programs, are becoming essential. (Yay!)
🌍 Enhanced Customer Experience: Exceptional, personalized experiences are paramount. Businesses are leveraging data to tailor services and create memorable moments for travellers. (This complements the "Digital Transformation" theme, but we still need that human component.)
Bonus theme:
🌍 Aviation: The report highlights the growth of private airports and advanced air travel options catering to high-net-worth individuals, emphasizing the importance of seamless, luxurious travel experiences. Additionally, innovations in transportation and visa policies are enhancing routes and accessibility, notably increasing regional connectivity and low-cost flight networks in Asia.
Enjoy and I welcome your thoughts and insights. 😀

Interesting Perspectives in this article. I do feel however that the so-called ;;tourists of tomorrow'' are already happening today, and many of the measures of asssessment are currently used are almost redundant
