No one knows what artificial intelligence is, and will be, capable of and where it is going in the future. Not even artificial intelligence itself knows that. Instead of getting intimidated by the uncertainty, or pondering whether one tends towards a dystopian, utopian or transhumanistic way of thinking about AI, the workshop has a pragmatic focus: It will examine whether and how AI supported, self-generating systems can improve the workflow in 360-degree fulldome films. AI, often referred to as a game changer, will be put to the test in a defined area. No one will regret it when AI helps reduces the time spent on designing, producing and rendering fulldome scenes. However, the question must be asked: What will I do with the time I save? The Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena, the city of light, world-famous for its optical industry and the modern planetarium technology developed here a hundred years ago, is the perfect place to come together in a workshop space. The Fulldome Festival Foundation, with its close ties to the Bauhaus Universitaet Weimar, is part of an international network of experts and aficionados of the fulldome genre that has grown over the past 18 years. Jason Reizner Jason Reizner is a media practitioner, designer and researcher based in Weimar, Germany. While working at the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo I’ve had the privilege of being apart of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s"Atmospheric Memory" exhibition. The exhibit has allowed me to develop an interesting outlook on the use of AI. In Lozano-Hemmer's immersive showcase, he challenges us to question the role of AI and its inherent biases. Lozano-Hemmer's quote, "The technology is getting better... on the other hand, better for whom?" resonates deeply in this context. "Atmospheric Memory" presents an intriguing concept of capturing and recalling environmental sounds and experiences, inspired by Charles Babbage's 1837 idea of the air as a “vast library.” This notion, while romantic, also carries a dystopian undertone. It prompts us to reflect on what makes us uniquely human: our ability to improvise, forget, and ultimately, our mortality. The exhibit showcases how technology excels at remembering but lacks the human touch. It challenges us to contemplate the consequences of a world where computers never forget. What would a machine dream about? According to The Museum of Modern Art, in Unsupervisioned, the artist Refik Anadol used artificial intelligence to interpret and transform more than 200 years of art at MoMA. Known for his innovative media works and public installations, Anadol has created a dynamic work that unfolds in real-time, continually generating new forms that engage viewers in a large-scale installation. Is an Ai exhibition diluting creativity or enhancing it?

Wondered about the creative potential of AI? What and how that will look? 🤔 A new expo Echoes of the Earth: Living Archive, by artist and technologist Refik Anadol, is to be held from this Saturday through to April at the Serpentine Gallery in London. 🎨 This draws upon years of experimentation with images from 16 rainforest locations, specifically of flora, fungi, and fauna to then offer the viewer an immersive experience. 🌸 🍄 🦁 This is the first installation that has been created using The Large Nature Model - the world's first open source generative AI model dedicated to nature. 🤖 The expo investigates the ways in which technology alters our perception of nature, time and space.
