🔥 Amyloids May Not Cause Alzheimer’s: #Quantum #Effect in the Brain Challenges Conventional Wisdom Source: Howard University Quantum Biology Laboratory By SciTechDaily Dr. Philip Kurian HT: Nino Marcantonio 🧠 “Recent research suggests that a #quantum effect in #amyloid fibrils, typically associated with #Alzheimer’s disease, could be the body’s adaptive response to oxidative stress rather than a cause of the disease. This discovery challenges current treatment approaches and highlights the importance of #interdisciplinary #research in understanding and potentially curing #neurodegenerative disorders.” 🧠“The #Kurian group has made an outstanding scientific contribution in elucidating the potential role of amyloid fibrils in mitigating #oxidative #stress and #photophysical damage,” said Professor Lon Schneider, director of the University of Southern California’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center, who was not involved in the research. “This work has #profound #implications for understanding the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, as researchers generally work under the assumption that amyloid must be the proper target for treatment. On the contrary, Kurian’s work suggests that, rather than a cause of the disease, amyloid aggregation and fibril formation are a #protective #response.” 👉https://lnkd.in/eGeRWRXb #alzheimers #ad #neuroscience #neurotech #brain #brainyealth #neurodegenerative #diseases #cure #digitalheakth #healthtech #healthcare #futureofhealthcare Credit: Quantum Biology Laboratory: Nathan Babcock and Philip Kurian

Brain's waste drainage system! A recent study published in Science Advances has revealed a previously unknown pathway between the brain and its protective dura mater, challenging the long-held belief that the brain is completely isolated from its surroundings. Researchers have identified channels, called arachnoid cuff exit points (ACE points), that allow fluid, waste, and immune cells to pass from the brain to the dura. This discovery has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of brain health and disease. The dysfunction of these ACE points may be linked to neurodegenerative diseases, according to the study's authors. Further research is needed to confirm this connection, but this is a significant breakthrough in our understanding of the brain's waste clearance system. #neuroscience #braindrainage #scientificdiscovery #biology #scienceandcommunication Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gN7EyS6E
