To my fellow social media managers: Pride month has started, and I want to encourage you all to approach this time with authenticity and purpose, not just profit. Far too often, brands treat Pride as a mere marketing opportunity, slapping rainbows on our logos and pushing product sales without truly supporting the LGBTQ+ community. This is not only hurtful to the queer community but can actively damage trust and credibility. Instead, I challenge us to use our platforms to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, highlight essential causes, and show up as true allies - not just during June but year-round. Donate portions of profits to LGBTQ+ organisations, collaborate with queer creators, and use your reach to educate and inspire. Pride is about celebrating hard-won rights and uplifting marginalised identities. I am an LGBTQ+ ally because it's important to me that everyone, regardless of gender, or sexual orientation, feels safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Diversity and Inclusion are not just buzzwords; they're fundamental values we should all champion. What you can do this month to be a better ally: 🌈 Take time to educate yourself on historical challenges and societal impact of the LGBTQ+ community. Understanding hardships and triumphs is crucial to effective allyship. 🌈 Be visible, show your support openly by attending Pride events in your local area or supporting a local LGBTQ+ owned business. Not just in June, but all year round. 🌈 Support an LGBTQ+ Organization with a donation or fundraiser. Egale is an organization in Canada with a mission to: "improve the lives of 2SLGBTQI people in Canada and to enhance the global response to 2SLGBTQI issues." 🌈Amplify LGBTQ+ voices, share a post on your social media, share art or activism, share resources like books and podcasts, be an advocate for their rights and visibility. An ally's role is to amplify, not overshadow.

We have the power!
