How does Katy, a primary school teacher of 15 years, change careers and land a job as a Executive Assistant in the private sector? 🛑 ✋ The answer is through gradual steps. ✅ 1- Katy applies for admin positions with private sector education companies like course providers etc. Something related to education still, so that her knowledge is desirable and through cv tweeks she can show her transferable administrative skills. 2- She takes the role, develops the position over time and incorporates some PA duties, such as diary and travel logistics for her Manager. Once these are under her belt, she updates her cv to reflect this & applys for PA roles in similar companies supporting a Manager or Director 3- Katy stays in this PA role and becomes a experienced assistant. Now she has options - Should she wish to move into a new industry, she now has the power to do so. Or she could progress into an EA role , which is a natural transition into board support This is Katy’s journey and a great example of breaking down the barriers that stand between someone’s current job and the one they’d love to do. 🌟✨

Adept is pleased to announce that we have become one of the first organisations, and the first #Security or #Cleaning company to achieve the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter. What does that mean? The West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter is a new initiative about progress, not perfection. In order to be accredited, we have had to demonstrate we are taking concrete, recognised actions and supporting our workers in five key areas: Opportunity Taking steps to ensure that routes into employment and career progression are inclusive, organisations use the best recruitment practices, and all people have access to flexible working arrangements. Wellbeing Work helps all people to live healthy and happy lives, while contributing to the increased productivity of their employer, where employers foster good physical and mental health and support wider aspects of wellbeing. Employee Voice All workers are empowered to contribute towards the success of their employer through positive relationships and effective communication, and trade unions are recognised and supported. Fulfilment Work provides all people with the opportunity to learn, develop and meaningfully connect to a purpose that resonates with them. Security Employers go beyond their minimum legal obligation, paying staff at least the Real Living Wage, and maintain working conditions that provide security and dignity to all workers. Ensuring we actively push these benchmarks and more, is a none-negotiable for us. Alongside our accreditation with the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, nails our colours to the mast on putting people first above all else! This always surprises our clients… Having been a part of this industry for many years, we’ve noticed that there are a lot of misconceptions about PAs and the work that we do! Mainly, the types of services we provide. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t just organise your diary and accept invitations on your behalf 📅 In fact, we do a lot more. And at Nicky Mehta London, we’re known for going above and beyond for our clients, not only making their lives easier and saving them time but adding more enjoyment into their daily lives too! For example, we’ve planned some pretty impressive (if we do say so ourselves) events for our clients including private film screenings and birthday parties 🪩 We have even booked choreography classes for our client when they visited Tokyo with a cast member from Kill Bill 💃 We’ve also been known to use our little black book of contacts to help our clients secure concert tickets, exclusive passes and experiences 👏 And even beyond the extravagant, we don’t mess about when it comes to the everyday tasks we help with either. If we’re arranging travel plans, we’ll know where you want to sit on the plane. If we’re helping you book hire staff, we’ll understand the qualities and experience you’re looking for. If we’re hiring tutors for your children, we know where to look for the best of the best. And if we’re helping you organise your business systems, we’re doing it in a way that complements how you like to work! The life of a Virtual Executive PA is one many people misinterpret but we’re here to change that (and change your life in the process!). Ready to discover what we can really do? Tiny reduction in job vacancies in Queensland Government since my post one month ago - as at today there are 2,244 jobs available. 229 vacancies are at AO1/AO2/AO3 which is entry level if you have limited or no professional experience. Great place to start - I got an AO2 job when I moved up from Sydney (last century!) because I needed money to pay the rent. Had no idea it was the beginning of an incredibly varied and rewarding 20-year career. 75 vacancies are at AO8 level which are generally operational management roles for programs, projects or frontline services. This is the level where I spent most of my career, learnt important leadership lessons, and for which I have the fondest memories of professional and personal growth, as well as enduring friendships. 🧡 8 vacancies are at SES level so if you're ready to take the next step as, say, Regional Director, Executive Director, Deputy Director-General or Director-General, you could start checking out these roles. If you'd like any hints, tips or intel, feel free to message me directly or via contact@helenangelataylor.com 😊 #jobvacancies #queenslandgovernment #getthatjob #dreamjob #jobapplications #jobgym https://lnkd.in/gWwMJNzx
