I just finished my very successful production of Miriam and Esther go to the Diamond District at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco. It was an amazing collaborative process that took a literal village (over 24 people) to make it happen. A DREAM COME TRUE! One of the things I love about my company Compass are the guiding principles: 1. DREAM BIG 2. MOVE FAST 3. LEARN FROM REALITY 4. BE SOLUTIONS DRIVEN 5. OBSESS ABOUT OPPORTUNITY 6. COLLABORATE WITHOUT EGO 7. MAXIMIZE YOUR STRENGTHS 8. BOUNCE BACK WITH PASSION Simple things to say, but so powerful when adhered to. I try to live my whole life this way, and hope you do too! Midweek Resume Tip: If you have a background in performing arts (theatre, music, ect) in college or even at the community / hobby level put it on your resume and talk about how it helped you grow as a communicator and it giving you confidence. In a very real sense playing a role in a theatre production is not all that dissimilar to being in various kinds of client facing jobs where the other party has certain expectations of your ability to grab their attention and keep it through the performance (sales call, customer success, account managers, ect). In many of these kinds of jobs the important thing is not having to be perfect. It's the ability to get it right with being able to under promise and over deliver just like a great performing artist. #edtechsales #edtechjobs #resumetips #interviewtips #tripleten #imhiring #performingarts #softskills

Our guest speaker at the pre-event networking lunch is Waltham Forest born Alessandro Babalola, known for his performances in Netflix’s ‘Top Boy’ and Guy Ritchie’s ‘Wrath of Man’. Babalola is also co-chair of the Soho Theatre Walthamstow board. “Film is an unbelievably important art form in that it incorporates almost every discipline of art and it serves as a creative time capsule of the human condition,” says Babalola. “In this, it is very much a sibling of theatre. If young people from varied backgrounds do not get these creative opportunities we lose the future of art.
