Equipment Monitoring with Object Detection using Thermal Image. I'm thrilled to share the results of my recent project where I took object detection to the next level using YOLOv8 model. Industrial equipment operates under high stress and in demanding environments, where overheating or component failure can lead to costly downtime, damage, or even hazardous incidents. This project can serve as a preventative monitoring tool by integrating object detection with simulated thermal analysis, providing valuable insights in real-time.

Presented this old prototype called AQM (Air-Quality-Monitoring) Bot in the August Month's Hack&&Tell event at Babbel. I built this initial prototype 10 years ago and kept iterating over it for years, until abandoning the project completely, 5 years ago. This prototype is a half-duplex RF transceiver-controlled 4x4 drive rover with custom-built gas sensor circuitry mounted on it. The sensor circuitry can detect the presence of poisonous gases like carbon monoxide, pollutants like carbon dioxide, and flammable gases like methane, propane and butane gases. It will also graph these concentrations in near real-time and alert the operator when a threshold is breached. The project didn't work out well commercially, but the learnings continue to be useful even today :)

🚨 New Study Alert🚨 Our latest paper explores Project Canary’s performance in the "ADED 2.0" testing protocol –a more rigorous test that mimics actual field conditions– and addresses a couple of key criticisms of continuous monitoring systems. Key Highlights: 📈 Realistic Site Conditions: The ADED 2.0 setup introduced complex, asynchronous emissions that better represent real-world scenarios, and our algorithms rose to the challenge with an underestimation error of just 3.86%. 📍 Addressing Sensor Density: Addressing industry-wide concerns around over-deployment, we found that reducing our sensor network from 10 to 3 sensors did not significantly impact the cumulative emissions accuracy, maintaining a near-zero bias. We’re proud to share these results not only to highlight our performance but to bring greater transparency to how we’re approaching this problem. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gcW7KT3w

With their adoption into the 2023 NEC, Class 4 fault-managed power (or FMP) systems are getting a lot of attention as a new and market-changing way to deliver more power over greater distances than existing Class 2 power-limited systems with acceptable shock and ignition protection. This innovative technology has vast potential across multiple sectors—from smart buildings, hospitality, and entertainment to transportation, indoor agriculture, warehouses, and more. Want to learn more about FMP systems? Check out our full white paper, "Fault-Managed Power: A Safe and Disruptive Innovation for Powering the Future": https://bit.ly/3YuLy6v

You must have heard of grid-forming (voltage-forming) vs. Grid-following (current-forming). We proposed cross-forming, which aims to control voltage angle and current magnitude, particularly relevant for fault ride-through (FRT) of grid-forming converters.
On Wednesday, 5 June 2024, I presented our paper titled 'Saturation-Informed Current-Limiting Control for Grid-Forming Converters' at the Power Systems Computation Conference 2024 in Paris-Saclay. Thanks to the collaborators Xiuqiang He (何秀强), Linbin Huang and Florian Dorfler. This paper presents a method to ensure stable operation of the system when the current output of the grid-forming converters is limited. For those interested, you can check out the paper here: https://lnkd.in/dxn-pEba For the recently developed extension and the overarching concept of 'cross-forming control' (patent pending) that we propose, you can read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/dhcjqGeT
