Twenty-nine percent of all American Indian/Alaska Native undergraduates are parenting. As champions of holistic family supports, Tribal Colleges and Universities are positioned to help student parents thrive. In support of building campus cultures that bolster student parent success, I will join Cheyenne Brady of the Center for Native American Youth, Marquieta Jilot of Stone Child College, Ashley John of Dine' College (formerly Navajo Community College) and Rachel Wippert of Blackfeet Community College to present at the 33rd Annual TCU Conference tomorrow. “Student Parent Success: Promising Practices for Native Family Futures” will include an overview of Ascend at the Aspen Institute's Black and Native Family Futures Fund. I’m excited to share our learnings from the Fund, which align with the promising practices outlined in Ascend’s “Tapping the Talent of Student Parents: A Playbook for Postsecondary Leaders.” Learn more about those promising practices here: https://lnkd.in/evzqpat5
