The "Senior Care Guy" • Owner & CEO of Proximity Care Services • Helping our elderly receive a premium in-home care experience they deserve • Follow Me On My Elder Care Journey •
Thought I knew everything about senior care! (Turns out, the learning and improving never stops. Let me show you why.) Hey LinkedIn folks, Last year, I jumped from being a personal support worker into running my own senior care business, Proximity Care. Believe me, it's been quite the ride with more dips than climbs at times, but every challenge has been a lesson in disguise. 🔍𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: My initial plan? Simple. Pair up PSWs with clients, set a care plan, train, and go. Reality taught me otherwise. Human needs aren't static; → they change. That means our approach can't be set in stone either. ↳ We're constantly tweaking how we do things, making sure our care really fits the person we're helping. 🗣️𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: Opening up real conversations, that's where the magic happens. It's easy for PSWs to just follow a script unless you really show them what caring looks like. → And for clients, especially those new to receiving care, it's about making sure they feel comfortable to speak up and tell us what they really need. 📈 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: Many clients might just nod and smile, trusting us because, well, we're the 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴. ↳ But true professional care is about partnership. We need to encourage them to tell us their true feelings, so we can make their care as perfect for them as possible. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: Leading in care means never stopping learning and always striving to make sure everyone—clients and staff—feels understood and valued. Because what's the point if we're not genuinely making lives better? P.S. Keen on enhancing senior care? Drop me a message! Let’s chat about how we can keep pushing boundaries together. #SeniorCare #ClientSafety #LeadershipInCare #inhomecare #HealthcareInnovation

#ThrivingToGetWorkDone Post 5 of 9: Aligning Interests and Incentives; Creating Win-Win Situations Aligning interests and incentives is crucial when collaborating with people who don’t directly report to you. It helps to ensure that everyone has a stake in the outcome and is motivated to contribute effectively. Here are two short use cases on how to activate this skill in routine work within the hospital industry: Use Case 1: Aligning Incentives for a New Patient Safety Initiative You’re leading a hospital-wide initiative to reduce patient falls. To ensure buy-in from various departments like Nursing, Housekeeping, and Rehabilitation Services, you propose an incentive program. “For every month that we achieve a 10% reduction in patient falls, the department with the most effective safety measures will receive recognition at our monthly staff meeting, along with a small budget for team development activities.” By aligning the incentives with the goal, you encourage all departments to actively contribute to patient safety, creating a shared sense of responsibility and motivation. Use Case 2: Aligning Interests in a Hospital Outreach Program In another scenario, you’re working on a community outreach program to increase health awareness. You recognize that different departments have varying interests, so you align them by saying, “Our goal is to reach 1,000 community members through this program. For every department that contributes significantly—whether by providing medical expertise, organizing events, or managing logistics—we’ll highlight your department’s efforts in our annual report, which is shared with our board and stakeholders.” By aligning their interests with the broader hospital goals, you ensure enthusiastic participation across the board. #My2Cents: Aligning interests and incentives ensures that everyone is working towards the same goals with the same level of enthusiasm. When people see how their contributions lead to mutual benefits, collaboration becomes natural, and success becomes shared. These posts aim to invoke a better overall environment by sharing practical ways to enhance workplace collaboration and productivity. How do you align interests and incentives in your workplace? Share your strategies in the comments! #Leadership #Teamwork #WorkplaceCulture #Incentives #HealthcareLeadership #ThrivingAtWork #Collaboration #HospitalAdministration

Outside? Rainy. Indoors? Enlightening. Spent the day with our partners CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield & community stakeholders discussing the social & emotional determinants of healthcare utilization during the Western Maryland Healthcare Symposium at Hagerstown Community College. It’s not only a reminder of why I do what I do- but a reignition of critical conversations that need to happen exponentially more often & especially outside of a forum setting. Finding new & innovative ways to design employee benefit plans is so much more than deductible-jockeying to lower costs. By taking a wholistic approach to employee education- we’re able to ensure that those who pay for care… can access their care. It’s not going to get cheaper- but it can and has to be more accessible. (Ps: it probably can be more cost effective if you have the right advisory in place- just saying 😇 … ask me how.) #EmployeeBenefits #Healthcare #CBIZ
