How Do You Know If Your Team Really Lives Your Core Values? Core values should not just sit on a poster or in a handbook, collecting dust like that gym membership you swore you’d use. They are the foundation for every decision, interaction, and achievement in your business. But how do you know if your team is actually living them every day? At Switch, we believe values alignment starts before someone even joins the team. It is something you cultivate intentionally, both in the hiring process and through ongoing actions. Here are some ways to make it happen: • Hire for alignment: Use Lou Adler’s Performance-Based Hiring to define success with measurable outcomes. During interviews, ask candidates for real examples of how they achieved similar results while reflecting key values. Pair this with GWC (do they get the role, want it, and have the capacity to excel) to ensure a strong fit. • Celebrate often: Call out those “living the values” moments. Whether it is a quick shout-out in a meeting or a team email, recognize and share how employees embody the values. Bonus points if you make it fun! • Make values routine: Kick off team meetings by sharing a story of how a value showed up in action that week. Or ask the team to share their own examples - free coffee for the best one! • Plan meaningful events: Organize team activities that reflect your values. Montrell has been part of our team since 2018. The other day I asked him what he loves most about being part of the A-Mrazek team. "Oh man, I just love it here!". And you can tell. Montrell exudes this enthusiasm in everything he does. And guess what? Enthusiasm is contagious across the entire team.
