Durian craze in China? 🍈🇨🇳 Is durian becoming China's most sought-after fruit? From durian hotpot to durian-flavoured snacks, consumers can't seem to get enough. 😳 Durian has long been a polarising topic on Chinese social media - people either love it or hate it. Let’s take a look. 🍈 China has become the world's top consumer of durians, fueled by imports from Vietnam and the Philippines. 🍈 China imported 1.43 million tons of fresh durians in 2023, with a total value of $6.7 billion, up from $4 billion in 2022 and $1.6 billion in 2019. ✔️ Businesses are diversifying with new durian snacks and beverages, tapping into the expanding market. ✔️ Milk tea with durian pulp is a hot seller in Nanning, with customers queuing for over half an hour. High-end restaurants in Guangxi have also introduced chicken durian hotpots, which have become top-sellers. ✔️ Xuan Ma’s, a Chinese snack company, durian-flavoured cakes, launched in 2019, saw annual sales soar from 800,000 yuan to over 10 million yuan now. What’s your take? 🤔👇 Are you a fan, or do you find the aroma too overwhelming? —-- #china #consumertrends #digitalmarketing Insights via Shanghai Daily, SCMP, video via RED ❗️ Like my insights? I love durian. Just as it is. Durian comes from Malaysia (the best) Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. Malaysian durians, like Musang King, are known for their creamy texture and blend of sweet and bitter flavours. But there are only less than 500.000 each season which raises the price.
I love love durians and have bought them whole or frozen in boxes whether musang king or D24. I understand they are being grown in Northern Territory and hope they are harvesting them for local market. Durians are like blue cheese, taste like heaven but smells like hell!! You either love it or hate it.
Well, in my home country, we eat our King of Fruits just as it is…ripe and drop from the tree. Musang King, the best of it all.
❤️ Durians are popular in Singapore all year round. When I was in the Philippines from 2017 to 2022, I could only buy durians in the last quarter of the year as these are seasonal from Mindanao. Thank you for sharing the vid of one of my fav fruits Ashley Dudarenok 艾熙丽 👍🥰👏
