Important construction law update for foreign developers operating in Ukraine.

The 780 CMR has been updated to the 10th Edition. Last month, the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) ratified and adopted the 10th edition. It will be effective in the coming weeks. The concurrency period (either the 9th or 10th edition of 780 CMR can be used) through the end of 2024. On January 1, 2025, the 10th edition of 780 CMR will be in full effect. The 10th Edition of 780 CMR adopts the 2021 I-Codes (e.g. IBC, IMC, etc.) with amendments. How does the IMC 2015 Edition vs 2021 Edition impact your project? What about the adoption of NFPA 13 and NFPA 72 (2013 Editions) vs (2019 Editions)? Presentation of International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) tailings related bulletins continues this week with: Bulletin 97 (1994): Tailings Dams - Design of Drainage, Review and Recommendations Summary This bulletin commented various recommended drainage methods for tailings dams. The research and studies made on tailings dams behaviour led to design improved methods of drainage for these dams. So successful have these been that even dams built upstream need no longer be seen as a type that traditionally has a low factor of safety. This approach to starter dam avoids the formation during early deposit of tailings of a zone of low strength slimes, normally found just upstream of that dam and greatly improves stability of a potential slip surface passing through the toe of tailings dam as it approaches full height.
