As we celebrate Republic Day in India this year, the vision of a $5 trillion economy resonates deeply with us. Achieving this goal calls for a strategic focus on critical areas like transit infrastructure, empowerment of MSMEs and inclusive digital growth. A robust, integrated transit network is pivotal to economic growth. A well-connected India will fuel commerce, tourism and job creation, and unlock India’s full potential. At Visa, we understand the vital role transit infrastructure plays and are committed to supporting initiatives to that drive its development. MSMEs are the bedrock of India’s economic prowess and by supporting businesses and entrepreneurs, we catalyse local economies, create jobs and foster prosperity for all. Thirdly, in the era of digital transformation, inclusion of communities is key. We are steadfast in working towards a digitally inclusive future, ensuring that every Indian has access to financial services. Bridging the digital divide with trust and security will open doors to unprecedented opportunities for millions and help create a thriving India that leaves no one behind. True to the tenets of a republic, we can, together, transform dreams into tangible reality.
Building a $5 trillion economy demands focus on sectors with nationwide impact. As our Group Country Manager Sandeep Ghosh puts it, transit, small businesses, and digital financial services play a major role. Let's together build a strong foundation for a thriving India. Happy Republic Day!

India's High-Income Dream: Can We Make it Happen by 2047? Martin Wolf, a respected economist, throws some cold water on PM Modi's goal of a high-income India by 2047. While achieving high-income status might be a stretch, I believe we can still achieve significant progress. Here's my take: 👉 States as Growth Engines: Imagine each Indian state as a powerhouse. UP's ambitious target of becoming a $1 trillion economy is a great example. We need all states to set and pursue ambitious growth goals. 👉 Collaboration is Key: Central and state governments must work together. Policies that empower startups, SMEs, industries, and attract FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) are crucial. 👉 Building the Backbone: Infrastructure development is a game-changer. Robust transportation, communication, and energy networks are essential for economic activity to flourish. What are your thoughts? Can India become a high-income nation by 2047? Great write up about the future economic prospects for our "Big Brother" next door, 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐀 🇮🇳 When you consider the lengths that US, EU and ASEAN companies are going through in order to access the burgeoning Indian consumer and then consider the fact that Sri Lanka & India are separated only by 55 KMs by sea and maybe 2-3 -Hrs by air, you see the potential Sri Lanka has to benefit from Indian growth! With the Indian middle class expected to hit between 450-500mn people by 2031, Sri Lanka just needs to get its offering right , particularly when it comes to tourism & services, in order to benefit from our perfect location. Strategically though, I don't think successive Sri Lankan governments have done enough to leverage the relationship, while obviously it's important to protect our own sovereignty, it's also important not to as they say "look a gift horse in the mouth", given its size India will always go for the larger opportunities, given Sri Lankas size we should do the exact opposite, the synergies are obvious but the strategies less so! #Srilanka #India #Trade #investment #tourism

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Ah, the tale of India's brain drain—our unintentional yet remarkably generous contribution to the global workforce. As we're all hustling through our daily lives, perhaps it’s easy to miss that India is not just participating but actually pioneering the grand export of talent. 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱! According to the latest numbers from the OECD, it's not just spices and Bollywood cinema that we excel at exporting; it’s our finest minds. In 2015/2016, a staggering 40 million highly educated migrants made their homes in OECD countries. While some see this as a problem, let’s spin this on its head a bit—think of it as India’s strategic international aid. Why confine our talent to local challenges when we can solve global issues? From Silicon Valley to the NHS, Indian brains are everywhere, helping run economies and saving lives. It's a badge of honor, really. And yes, we’re aware of the brain drain narrative, but let's face it—our export has a silver lining. It's not just about the jobs or opportunities; it’s about placing our mark on the global map. Who needs to host the Olympics when you can influence global innovation and healthcare instead? So here’s to India, an unsung hero in the saga of global talent mobility! We might not always get the credit, but our impact is undeniable. #GlobalTalent #Innovation #BrainDrainWithABenefit #ProudlyIndian
