Optimizing waste management is a crucial step in creating a more sustainable future. The key to achieving this lies in three essential practices: using eco-friendly materials, adhering to local disposal guidelines, and enhancing waste sorting practices. Switching to eco-friendly materials like recycled paper and biodegradable plastics reduces landfill waste and fosters a circular economy. It's a small change that makes a big impact, inspiring others to follow suit in creating a culture of sustainability. Following local disposal guidelines ensures that waste is handled responsibly, preventing contamination of our environment. By understanding and adhering to these regulations, we actively contribute to a cleaner and safer community. Optimizing waste sorting practices by clearly labeling bins and educating those around us promotes community responsibility and reduces environmental impact. It's about working together to ensure recyclables are properly diverted from landfills. Are you ready to implement these strategies and contribute to a healthier environment? How have these practices made a difference in your community? #WasteManagement #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #CommunityResponsibility #ReduceReuseRecycle 🍃♻️ https://lnkd.in/ejsmR544

Under the new Simpler Recycling legislation, businesses with 10 employees and more must separate dry recyclables into dedicated containers and ensure food waste is collected separately, regardless of the amount produced, starting from March 2025. Businesses with fewer than 10 employees have time until March 2027 to comply. Local authorities will also be required to comply with the new Simpler Recycling reforms for waste collected from households from March 2026, providing more consistent recycling and waste collection services, including weekly food waste collections.
42% of SME respondents in England are unaware of how the Simpler Recycling regulations will impact their business. Last week, the European Commission flagged all 27 EU Member States for not hitting waste collection and recycling targets. 🌍♻️ Countries like Denmark, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, and many others have fallen short on municipal waste recycling, packaging recycling, and electronic waste management. But here's the good news: we already have the solutions to turn this around! 🚀 TOMRA recommends the quick implementation of proven waste management solutions like high-performing deposit return systems, which ensure recovery rates exceeding 90% to reduce litter and increase collection rates, advanced mechanical recycling coupled with mixed waste sorting to ensure high-quality material for recycling purposes. We also promote reuse initiatives to minimize single-use plastics and encourage a circular economy. So, what's holding us back? Check out our holistic approach to waste management and the various solutions we champion 👉 https://lnkd.in/d_EZRDQ5 #EUtargets #CircularEconomy #DepositReturnSystems #Reuse #MixedWasteSorting #AdvancedMechanicalRecycling #ReduceReuseRecycle #TOMRA

Finland was amongst the flagged ones. We really need to take a holistic view on recycling. From product and packaging design to waste collection and from legislations to new technologies and business models. Because of the huge amount of work this has to be a collaborative and all inclusive effort. #recycling #plasticrecycling #circulareconomy #sustainability
