https://lnkd.in/gGEZUSyu Sri Lanka is actively pursuing its renewable energy potential and is eagerly seeking significant investments from India and other countries in this sector. However, during last week’s Business forum ‘Energising India-Sri Lanka Ties through Cooperation in Renewable Energy,’ several stumbling blocks were highlighted by RE investors in Sri Lanka, which the Energy Minister also acknowledged. At the forum held on 11 March, Dr. Narendra de Silva, General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), shed light on these obstacles and outlined potential paths forward. Alongside, Sri Lanka’s Minister for Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, emphasised the nation’s vast renewable energy potential and extended invitations to Indian companies to explore investment opportunities in this burgeoning sector. Further, he did not mince his words on the monopoly in the energy sector, signalling a desire for greater competition and innovation. #adanigroup #renewableenergy #SriLanka #india

India's green energy laws have catalyzed substantial progress towards sustainability. The Electricity Act of 2003, amended in 2021, empowers regulatory bodies to facilitate renewable energy integration and tariff determination, pivotal for reducing fossil fuel reliance and environmental impact. The National Action Plans on Climate Change since 2008, including the National Solar Mission, set aggressive targets to enhance renewable adoption and energy efficiency. Financial incentives such as accelerated depreciation, subsidies, and state-level schemes like net metering bolster investment in green energy. Despite challenges like grid integration and financing, ongoing regulatory reforms aim to streamline project approvals and bolster infrastructure. International collaborations through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance reinforce India's role in global renewable energy leadership. India's dedication to green energy not only promotes economic growth and job creation but also underscores its commitment to sustainable development and mitigating climate change impacts. #greenenergy #electricitylaw #economicgrowth
