This year’s conference theme, "Discovery, Research and Utilization of Bioactive Compounds: Development of Healthy and Functional Food Products," underscores the critical role of bioactive compounds in promoting health and preventing disease. As a previous participant, your expertise and research are invaluable to enriching our discussions this year. Did you know that the demand for food will double by 2050? Our CEO Thomas G. Schmidt and Barbara Taudorf Andersen will be in Folkemødet this week to discuss how to produce enough protein to feed the growing world population in the coming decades. Without giving too much away, we can share a few thoughts with you about what will be needed: 🥛 Selecting the proteins that the world needs most – for example, high-quality milk proteins. 🏭 Developing the best technologies to produce proteins via fermentation on an industrial scale – luckily, that's already being done in Denmark – guess who's on it! 👨🌾 Feedstock for fermentation, produced by Danish farmers. The microbes eat various forms of carbon in the fermentation tanks to make protein. And it would be great that: 🌍 Denmark supports the establishment of the first factories in Denmark, so Danish businesses can take part in a huge business adventure. Alternatively, the first factories will be established in the US, the Middle East and Asia, using Danish technology. 🚀 The EU and the Danish state ensure that proteins produced with fermentation technology are approved for food in Europe – quickly. This is how Jonas Söderström at BioStock answered:   "Summers are spent with my family and we always try to squeeze in a trip to Italy 🇮🇹, preferably driving down (by EV of course) so we can explore spontaneously along the way. As someone said: ”the journey is the goal, not the actual destination” – or something like that. And when mentioning goals: being in Milan surrounded by crazy football fans when Italy scored that last-second goal to stay in the Euro Cup was one spectacular memory we got, this time around!    At BioStock we have our sights set on providing our clients and Swedish life science with even more visibility and value, by constantly developing new services, build our media platform and expand our popular events. With the successful premiere of the Global Forum event in May behind us, we’re looking forward to the BioStock Summit i November with several new features (cliffhanger!), but before that we’ll also have an investor focused event in Stockholm in September… it’s gonna be great.
