Let us know in the comments below! 📈 Programme Management is a critical skill for all kinds of transformation initiatives, particularly at large and enterprise scale. It’s one that can be hard to find and in high demand. Programme Management is often confused with Project Management, with which it shares close links. However, Programme Management is a completely different skill with a separate set of priorities and requirements. The sorts of activities we see using this skill include: ➡️ Maintaining a strategic view over a set of projects ➡️ Providing the framework for implementing business initiatives ➡️ Conceiving and communicating the vision of the programme’s outcomes and benefits ➡️ Agreeing business requirements and translating these into operational plans ➡️ Scheduling programme resources, interdependencies and risks ➡️ And more! 💻 We see this skill come up frequently in Programme Management specific roles, or related portfolio or large-scale project management roles. Why do so many execs doubt the value of the PMO? At #GPMF 2024 in Riyadh, I presented a session delving into this issue. With over 70% of PMOs questioned by executives, and many failing within a few years, it's clearly important to examine the root causes of this problem, and look into some practical fixes. You can catch the recording of the presentation here https://hubs.ly/Q02BVKYk0 Using a football analogy, I think PMOs need to focus on strategic contributions rather than just project execution. Like a player needing more than just speed to impress the coach, PMOs must develop skills like project prioritization, strategic portfolio management, and resource utilization management to truly stand out and get the recognition they deserve.
