In 2018, three former Stripe employees set out with a bold vision to revolutionize customer support operations. Now, six years later, the company they started has reached a significant milestone of its own: a team of 100 strong. To mark this achievement, we spoke with some early hires who not only shaped the culture but continue to embody our values to this day. Here are a few themes that emerged across all interviews: 🤝 At Assembled, we believe in the power of empathy and genuine connection. Our cultural value to "act like a support agent" shines through in the kindness and dedication of our team. 🔄 Feedback is a cornerstone of our growth. What an incredible day at Stripe Sessions! How many managers will reconsider their 1:1s after Jensen Huang's thought-provoking speech? With 60 direct reports, Jensen opts for a unique approach—meeting everyone at once. This way, strategies, issues, and failures are discussed openly, fostering a culture where collective learning thrives. It's a strategy that ensures alignment and keeps everyone informed. Jensen's emphasis on those reporting directly to the CEO requiring minimal oversight or career guidance certainly got me thinking. Without a doubt, Jensen's talk was one of the highlights of #stripesessions. Can't wait to see what day 2 holds! #stripesessions2024

I train CEOs, Boards of Directors, and Employees across diverse sectors in leadership skills, focusing on revenue, relationships, & retention. 🌟 | Keynote Speaker, Facilitator, Coach, Author & Strategic Planning Expert
Meet Stripe, our newest team member! 🐾 Stripe, a 5-month-old Australian Shepherd, has joined our team alongside myself, my amazing Virtual Assistants Moses Ukwenya and Amaya Hernandez and Gizmo, my 8-year-old Shih Tzu. And let’s not forget my silent business partner, Peanut Butter, the cat who prefers to stay out of business matters unless there’s food involved. Bringing Stripe on board has been an adventure. From his enthusiastic chewing of the water hose and the occasional carpet accident to digging up flowers and roughhousing with Peanut Butter, it’s been a journey of growth and adaptation. Nurturing Stripe reminds me that leadership is much like training a new team member. It requires patience, consistency, and understanding. Leadership isn’t just about guiding others; it’s about adapting to new challenges, learning from each experience, and creating an environment where everyone—whether they have two legs or four—can thrive. In the spirit of growth and leadership, I’m thrilled to share that Stripe is already making strides. Here’s to learning from every challenge and celebrating every victory, no matter how small! What lessons have your pets taught you about leadership? Share your stories in the comments! #Leadership #TeamBuilding

Since leaving the military and joining Engage Technical Solutions Ltd I've been on my own personal, personal development, and I've achieved my first goal! Today, I proudly received my First White Stripe, marking a significant step in my journey. This achievement has not only been a personal victory but also a moment of reflection on the lessons I’ve learned that can be applied to the working environment. Here are a few takeaways I wanted to share: 1. **Continuous Learning**: Just as earning a stripe signifies progress in my skills, the workplace thrives on a culture of continuous learning. Embracing new challenges and seeking knowledge helps both individuals and teams grow. 2. **Resilience**: The path to achieving this stripe wasn't always easy. In the professional world, resilience is key. Challenges will arise, but it’s our ability to persevere and adapt that defines our success. 3. **Team Support**: I couldn’t have reached this milestone without the support of those around me. Collaboration and teamwork are essential in any setting. When we lift each other up, we can achieve great things together. 4. **Goal Setting**: This stripe represents a goal achieved, reminding me of the importance of setting clear, achievable goals in our careers. They provide direction and motivation, helping us stay focused on our professional journeys. As I embark on the next phase of my journey, I’m excited to apply these lessons to my work environment and continue growing both personally and professionally. I still have a million things to learn, but here’s to new challenges and achievements ahead! Small steps, great achievements. Plus my 15 year old son had great pleasure in choking me out (twice) tonight. #BJJ #Milestone #ContinuousLearning #Resilience #Teamwork #GoalSetting #CareerDevelopment

I often think about how Stripe was founded with just seven lines of code, which the founders personally implemented at customer offices. They could have easily said, “It’s not my job,” but they didn’t. Instead, they cared deeply about the customer experience and made it their job. This story is a powerful reminder that success often comes from going the extra mile, even outside your official role. It’s about taking ownership, being proactive, and focusing on what truly matters—the customer. In any business, that level of commitment makes all the difference. It’s not just about building a product; it’s about ensuring it works seamlessly for its users. By putting the customer first, the Stripe founders set the tone for their company’s success, and it’s a lesson worth remembering in our work.

To anyone interested in working at a future Stripe or Reddit, consider this before applying: People who make bets on those companies going public end up having to stay at them for longer than they wanted to see the IPO happen. There are plenty of engineers who got burned by those experiences and now do more due diligence when deciding where they want to work. Be mindful of this and think about whether you prefer a more stable environment instead — and know that those stable businesses are out there, looking to hire you.

Today is day 5 of my journey at Ramp! I've been following Ramp ever since my time at Stripe and it's been incredible to see the company's explosive growth. A couple of quick takeaways: 1. Every day counts - Ramp writes the days that the company has been in existence at the front of presentations to put things into perspective. What have we done in the last 30 days and how can we ensure the next 30 days get us closer to our goals? 2. Customers love the product - And it's by design, the product and engineering teams are laser focused on what customers care about and collaborate with different teams to deeply understand each persona. 3. Incredible talent - The folks I've spoken to so far embody a rare combination of ownership, curiosity, and humility. The energy at the New York office is contagious and I look forward to learning more in the coming weeks.

How do you handle uncertainty? With recent layoffs at tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, it’s a question that’s on everyone’s mind. In our organization, we’re facing similar challenges right now. As a team lead I see it in my responsibility to help my employees and peers to handle this situation in the best way possible. I acknowledge that everyone has their own way of dealing with this situation. Since so many colleagues approached me after I posted my perspective internally, I also want to share it here: Stephen Covey’s Circle of Control. In these uncertain times, the decision about layoffs is in our Circle of Concern - it affects us, but we have no control over it. Dwelling on it can lead to stress and anxiety. Instead, let’s focus on our Circle of Control - our actions, attitudes, thoughts, and responses. How we interact with our peers, improve our product and company, develop and learn new skills at work, and most importantly, enjoy working with our colleagues. Those parts are under our control. One of our colleagues, a father of two, was unsure about his future in the company - as we all are- and his life here in Austria. This model helped him shift his focus to what he could control, and it encouraged him to go on. It’s normal to have concerns about things outside our control. But by focusing on what we can control, we can navigate uncertainty more effectively and with less stress. Stay positive and proactive, and remember, this situation is temporary and will pass. #CircleOfControl #NavigatingUncertainty Full article in German here -> https://lnkd.in/dC8kWg52
