Check out the Blue-White Industries CO2 Feed System for simple, effective and safe pH control. CO2 dosing provides a controlled and gradual pH reduction unlike acids such as Sulfuric Acid. CO2 is self-buffering, forming carbonic acid (H2CO3) when dissolved in water. This carbonic acid can dissociate into hydrogen ions (H+) and bicarbonate ions (HCO3-). The reversible equilibrium reaction between carbonic acid and bicarbonate ions helps maintain the pH of the solution, typically keeping it just above 6. Thus, it is difficult to over-dose the water. This reduces the risk of corrosion, minimizing the risk of water quality deterioration due to the release of metals or other pipe-related contaminants. No matter which method of treatment is used, the fact remains that pH level plays a significant role in every stage of water and wastewater treatment. By recognizing the impact of pH and implementing appropriate control strategies, operators can ensure consistent treatment outcomes. Glacier Energy recently received four glycol skid hairpin heat exchangers for assessment. Upon strip down and inspection, it was found that all four units were in a very poor condition with heavy erosion/corrosion throughout the inlet/outlet channels, tube bundles and shells. The findings meant that the heat exchangers were beyond economical repair. Glacier Energy therefore manufactured like for like replacements and delivered them back to the client. #HeatExchangers #Manufacturing #Replacement

Given that the evaporator is supplied with steam at a temperature of 399 K and a total heat of 2714 kJ/kg, and it is evaporating water at a temperature of 373 K, it can be concluded that each kilogram of water vapor generated will have a total heat content of 2675 kJ. If the heat is not utilized effectively, such as by condensing it in a tubular condenser or through direct contact in a jet condenser, the steam system becomes highly inefficient. The generated vapor can be used in the calandria of a comparable unit, as long as the boiling temperature in the second unit is lowered to maintain a sufficient temperature difference. The boiling point of the liquor can be lowered by introducing a vacuum to the second effect. #processengineering #chemicalengineering

#tipoftheday Does Net Driving Pressure affect the salt passage that goes through an RO membrane? No. Net Driving Pressure only affects the amount of permeate going through the membrane. The most commonly accepted theory of how dissolved substances pass through an RO membrane is by diffusion. If we take an example of a bottle of skunk oil and open it in the rear of the room, the people in the back are going to smell it first. Eventually the odor will spread through the room and drive everyone out. The odor molecules are moving from an area of higher concentration (back of room) to an area of lower concentrate (front of room) by diffusion through air. Feed water dissolved substances pass through the membrane by diffusion through water from an area of higher concentration (feed water) to an area of lower concentration (permeate) The more dissolved substances in the feed water, the more passage through the membrane. This is independent of pressure.

✍ The factors causing damage to the coke oven door are summarized as follows: 📒 1. Chemical attack The products of the coking process are complex, mainly including H, CH, C2H6, C2H4, C3H8, CO, CO2, N2, benzene, toluene, xylene and some other compounds. The furnace door lining bricks have always been chemically attacked by these products. These active gaseous and liquid pyrolysis products first diffuse into the interior of the brick through the apparent pores of the brick, and finally chemically react with the substances in the brick and physically diffuse to destroy the crystal lattice structure of the brick and reduce the comprehensive physical properties of the brick. 2. Thermal damage In each cycle of coking, the furnace door lining brick is subjected to three thermal shocks, namely 1000°C to room temperature, room temperature to 700°C, and 700°C to room temperature. This leads to cracks on the surface of the lining bricks and concentration of thermal stress at the corners, often causing damage to the brick corners. 3. Mechanical damage caused by carbon deposit cleaning During the use of a coke oven, coking products such as tar adhere firmly to the surface of the lining bricks. As the use cycle prolongs, the carbon deposit layer gradually thickens, causing the furnace door to not close tightly, resulting in air leakage and fire. Methods such as mechanical removal and high-pressure water flushing are commonly used to clean carbon deposits. The resulting mechanical force accelerates the damage of the furnace door lining bricks. #cokeoven #cokeovendoor #cokeovenequipment https://lnkd.in/g7syHxQW https://lnkd.in/gGCz4smA

The main component in the ideal recipe for destroying the insides (trays or fillings) of a vacuum distillation tower is the use of steam containing a percentage of moisture or superheated steam without steam traps. At a pressure of 40 mm Hg, the amount of water explodes, doubling its volume to 25,000 times, which leads to the destruction of the supports. The interior of the fillings or trays themselves. #chemicalengineering #oilandgas

Ever noticed how scale builds up inside your kettle? In an industrial steam boiler that same scale can significantly impact efficiency and safety. Scale is caused by minerals like calcium and magnesium in water. It insulates heat transfer surfaces and can lead to overheating or even catastrophic boiler failure. There are various ways to tackle it: 1️⃣ Water Softening: By treating the feed water with commercial softeners, you can remove hardness salts before they enter the boiler, preventing scale from ever forming. 2️⃣ Chemical Treatment: You can use specialised scale inhibitors to keep those stubborn mineral deposits in check. 3️⃣ Reverse Osmosis (RO): For the ultimate in water purity, RO systems can reduce the mineral content before it reaches critical areas. 4️⃣ Regular Testing: Regular water quality tests ensure everything is functioning as it should, maintaining optimal conditions within the boiler. If you suspect your boiler equipment isn't working properly, scale build-up could be the culprit. But to know for sure, it's best to call in the professionals (that's us!) #SteamBoilers #WaterTreatment #IndustrialMaintenance #PBJEngineering #EngineeringExcellence

Definition and Importance of FD: Freeze drying involves three primary stages: Freezing the material, reducing the pressure to create a vacuum, and applying just enough heat to cause the ice to sublimate directly from the solid phase to the gas phase. By bypassing the liquid phase, the process prevents the damage typically caused by conventional drying methods. The importance of freeze drying lies in its ability to maintain the original properties of the material, such as shape, size, bioactivity, and nutrient content
