Meet Manny Soto, Stevedores Shift Supervisor at ABP Southampton. In this video, he talks about his role at the Port in supporting our automotive operations, including driving light and heavy cargo on and off vessels, scanning to provide real-time information about our imports and exports to HMRC, and stowing and marshalling to ensure all cargo is safely stored on site, ready for its next destination.   Our Port is a hub of import and export automotive operations, and so far this year we've handled thousands of vehicles and supported operations on 190+ vessels. We work closely with our Port Partners - Grimaldi, UECC, K Line, and Sallaum Lines - to ensure the safe and efficient flow of automotive operations. Our collaboration with vehicle distributors further ensures the smooth arrival and departure of vehicles to and from the Port. To manage such a large volume, we rely on our vehicle terminal management system, which allows us to instantly track the location of every stored vehicle, available storage capacity, and cargo dwell time.    Our Stevedores Team has the unique opportunity to handle a diverse range of vehicles during their shifts and they equipped to handle everything from heavy-duty vehicles like diggers and tractors to the latest electric vehicles and luxury cars.     Life is always exciting when supporting such a high volume of vessels; Manny will explain that his other duties include meeting with the team on board the ship to discuss stow plans and lashing of the vehicles to ensure they do not move during transit. Discover a role that will empower you to make a positive difference to UK trade.
