Meet Manny Soto, Stevedores Shift Supervisor at ABP Southampton. In this video, he talks about his role at the Port in supporting our automotive operations, including driving light and heavy cargo on and off vessels, scanning to provide real-time information about our imports and exports to HMRC, and stowing and marshalling to ensure all cargo is safely stored on site, ready for its next destination. Our Port is a hub of import and export automotive operations, and so far this year we've handled thousands of vehicles and supported operations on 190+ vessels. We work closely with our Port Partners - Grimaldi, UECC, K Line, and Sallaum Lines - to ensure the safe and efficient flow of automotive operations. Our collaboration with vehicle distributors further ensures the smooth arrival and departure of vehicles to and from the Port. To manage such a large volume, we rely on our vehicle terminal management system, which allows us to instantly track the location of every stored vehicle, available storage capacity, and cargo dwell time. Our Stevedores Team has the unique opportunity to handle a diverse range of vehicles during their shifts and they equipped to handle everything from heavy-duty vehicles like diggers and tractors to the latest electric vehicles and luxury cars. Life is always exciting when supporting such a high volume of vessels; Manny will explain that his other duties include meeting with the team on board the ship to discuss stow plans and lashing of the vehicles to ensure they do not move during transit. Discover a role that will empower you to make a positive difference to UK trade. An 11-year trial by the Department for Transport showed that longer semi-trailers were involved in around 61% fewer personal injury collisions than conventional lorries 🚛. LST operators are encouraged to put extra safety checks and training in place. Operators are also legally required to oversee driver training, scheduling, record keeping, training for transport managers and key staff, and loading of LSTs 🦺. B.C. truckers say proposed changes to licensing system could lead to job losses "It will cut my business in half" — Tom Johnson, owner of Delta-based Kimberly Transport B.C. container truck operators are worried that licensing changes proposed by the Office of the B.C. Container Trucking Commissioner will hurt small and medium-sized companies that move goods to and from the Port of Vancouver. Truck companies must be licensed to gain access to the port. Trucks with licences, or tags, often do a short-haul run with the container to a warehouse – which is called #drayage. To save on costs, many of the licensed companies will then get so-called “shadow” companies, whose trucks are not licensed, to move containers on long-haul trips. #BC #trucking #redtape #imports #VancouverPort https://lnkd.in/gMxigewv

Jacksonville, Florida-based Raven Transport Holding Inc. said it is shutting down its over-the-road and dedicated fleets, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing on Wednesday. The closure of the two fleets will result in 83 laid-off employees, including 57 truck drivers, from Raven’s facility at 7150 Phillips Highway in Jacksonville. Officials for Raven Transport did not provide a reason for shutting down the OTR and dedicated fleets but said the closure is permanent. Raven Transport did not immediately respond to a request for comment from FreightWaves. Sometimes are different situations at the loading site 🏭 Closed, break, there are no employees responsible for loading, loading is impossible without tail-lift (but we didn't know that before 😂 ) and so on. But an experienced driver knows how to handle such moments. I really appreciate working with people who are ready to do more than they should in critical situations It is valuable 🦾 #logistic #freight #freightforwarding #carrier

Maritime Fact: Ever wonder why there’s so much traffic on our island? Puerto Rico is among the top countries with the highest number of cars per capita, as per census conducted by The World Factbook. This impressive statistic highlights the importance of car carriers in ensuring that our island’s automotive needs are met efficiently. Keep those wheels coming! Car Carriers Operations, also known as RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) vessels, are designed to transport vehicles efficiently and safely. These vessels have built-in ramps that allow cars, trucks, and other wheeled cargo to be driven directly on and off the vessel, making the loading and unloading process fast and seamless. Today’s car carriers can handle thousands of vehicles at a time, playing a crucial role in the automotive supply chain. Puerto Rico Terminals appreciates the support from our car carriers in allowing us to work their vessel operations efficiently and safely on the island. #CarImports #CarCarriers #PuertoRicoTerminals #TerminalOperator
