Building community resilience is an important part of railroads’ holistic safety approach. Railroads work with local first responders to create emergency response plans. They also have dedicated police forces positioned along routes to monitor them 24/7. AAR.org/Safety

COMMUNITY SAFETY PLAN: We know community safety is a big concern for many people. Everyone has the right to not only be safe but to feel safe as well. Which is why we released our Community Safety Plan for QLD. It describes the things we already are doing that work, and how we’re expanding on those. And some new things that experts, frontline workers, victims - and police - have told us they believe we need to do. It’s about: Supporting victims Delivering for our families Detaining offenders Intervening when people offend Preventing crime before it occurs Please go to https://lnkd.in/gJHq77iU to look at the detail.

Public Safety in the 21st Century Relies on Updated Websites: Here's Why In our digital age, a current website is essential for public safety, and they are more affordable than you might think! Rural 911 Centers, Sheriff Offices, Fire Departments, & Police Departments can have a modern and effective website for under $6000. Here's how a well-maintained site keeps communities informed: -Emergency Preparedness: Share critical updates during crises, like weather warnings or evacuation routes, ensuring residents receive timely information. -Transparency & Trust: Build a strong connection with the community by providing clear details about services, initiatives, and contact information. -Accessibility: Offer a user-friendly platform for residents to easily find the resources they need. Message me for some great resources for your agency's website refresh! #publicsafety #communication #websitedesign #911 #Fire #VolunteerFire #Sheriff #Police #365DTM

🗣 Assistant Commissioner, Louisa Rolfe spoke with BBC Radio 4 Today following His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS)’s report on the Met's handling of child exploitation. "That is shocking and nobody goes to work to fail young people. Our officers care and HMIC recognised that they saw officers who were dealing with really complex cases and sometimes overwhelming workloads which is why we’re making significant investments into those teams. And we’re having to make some tough choices about how we prioritise this work but it’s a significant priority for us. That additional growth in officers and staff into those teams, 72 of those 565 will be focused on child exploitation. But this is a complex area for us. Addressing the victimisation and offending behaviours of children in London is not something that policing can fix alone. We must do it in partnership with others." As promised, here is a longer article on the Emergency Response NPRM that would dramatically alter the current Fire Brigades standard and impose an enormous burden on the emergency response community, be it fire, ems, tactical rescue, or some of the support services for those providers. Beyond the impact to the entities and individual providers, I predict if this rule is actually adopted it will seriously impact response times and availability of services, particularly in the EMS space and in what are currently underserved communities (underserved for whatever reason, including socioeconomic factors, population density, etc.). We are working with industry associations and individual entities to assist with the drafting of comments and hope all impacted submit intelligent, cogent, and supportable comments (in other words, no "OSHA is awful and this sucks" comments). #odworkplacesafety #osha #nprm #emergencyresponse #firefighting #ems #tacticalrescue

I genuinely wonder exactly how much organizational learning is generated from such meetings. I have been fortunate enough to work closely and extensively with Australian fire and rescue services over the last decade or so, and also with their incredible State Emergency Services. Queensland is 7-8 times larger than the UK and they have a single emergency response agency. England alone has 44 fire and rescue services and 11 ambulance services. Wouldn’t mergers of UK fire and rescue services make for a leaner, more efficient and effective front line response? Would it reduce budgets and the need for investment in (for example) 44 brand brand new, state of the art training centres? Would it more easily promote best practices and the development of true subject matter expertise? Perhaps more critically, would it help with the current challenges the sector faces? I do hope the UKFRs can genuinely learn from other parts of the world. https://lnkd.in/e3zzbwgR
This week London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe and Deputy Commissioner Charlie Pugsley had the pleasure of meeting with Michelle Cowling, Deputy Commissioner of Operations for Fire Rescue Victoria, Australia. Michelle previously worked for 25 years in Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, where she was one of the first woman urban firefighters in Queensland. The visit was a fantastic chance to learn from each other, and discuss the new equipment and methods that our services are using. We also took the opportunity to talk about diversity and culture in fire and rescue services, and emerging risks like electrical vehicles and our ChargeSafe campaign. Thank you to Michelle for joining us.

Scott Robinson, Deputy Director of Government Affairs, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS As a firefighter and public sector employee, I can't help but shake my head at The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025. On page 82 of the Mandate for Leadership, they suggest that congress make public-sector unions illegal. Imagine a world where essential services, like firefighting, are driven solely by political agendas and not by the people who actually do the work. What could possibly go wrong? Clearly, the path to better governance is through more bureaucracy and less representation for those who risk their lives every day. The Idea that local governements will protect their fire fighters and their communities is a joke. As someone on the front lines, I can tell you this: weakening public-sector unions will only undermine our ability to protect and serve our communities effectively. hashtag#Firefighter hashtag#PublicSector hashtag#Unions hashtag #STOPProject2025 hashtag #RUINEDHeritage hashtag #FaultyFoundation
