Habitat Lago Maggiore, in the Ticino village of Piazzogna, is the perfect combination of built and natural heritage. A project focused on a special sense of respect for the territory, which was also highlighted by the Hotel Innovation Award. My name is Alessia Antonioli, architect working for atelier ribo+, and I would like to introduce you to this ambitious project that aims to promote a form of sustainable tourism. SUSTAINABLE TOURISM Within the nucleus of Piazzogna, in a building plot surrounded by forest and with a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore, we want to create an ecosystem of interconnected accommodation facilities that can offer a unique tourist experience.  A vision based on the concept of sustainability and rediscovery of the balance between man and nature. A place to meet and exchange, where one can retreat and regenerate. BUILDING BY ENHANCING THE TERRITORY In a world where urban planning pressure is increasingly aimed at mass construction, sacrificing the land in favour of modernity, Habitat Lago Maggiore takes a new, much more sensitive approach. The aim is to build the complex with the utmost respect for the context. The preservation of history and morphological characteristics become central architectural criteria, on the basis of which the general concept is founded and the best construction methods are studied. It is a question of understanding the history of the area, reading its peculiarities, observing the influence of time. A PAST THAT LAYS THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE Even the choice of materials was pervaded by this concept. The project was born and built from the experiences of the past, taking local materials and those present on the site, skilfully repurposed through the use and knowledge of current construction methods. Still at the planning stage, Habitat Lago Maggiore was nominated in 2022 among the three best hotel concepts in Switzerland in the Hotel Innovation Awards promoted by Gastro Suisse.  Today we have reached the laying of the foundation stone, which will take place next week with the official start of construction. And you, what do you think, would you like to live an immersive experience in nature? #architecture #sustainability #innovation #nature #landscape
