We often share ways how you can get involved if you aren't a foster parent, but as National Foster Care Awareness Month comes to an end, we want to share this reality: Our country is desperate for more foster parents. You can get down to the nitty-gritty, giving details and specifics for every county in the state and every state in the country, but this truth remains the same: How many children are experiencing foster care? Too many. How many open foster homes are there? Not enough. The stories aren't fiction-- children are sleeping in DCFS offices because state workers can't find an open bed. Kids are being placed into group homes rather than being invited into family settings. Siblings are being separated. It's true that not everyone can be a foster parent... But it's also true that many people can. #fosterthefamily #fosterthefamilyus #thisisfostercare #fostercare #NFCM #fostercareawareness #fosterparent #fosterfamily #everyonecandosomething

🌟 Intensive Treatment Foster Care (ITFC) 🌟 👨👩👧👦 Have you ever heard of ITFC and wondered what it means? ITFC stands for Intensive Treatment Foster Care, a specialized program providing a nurturing family environment for children with complex emotional and behavioral needs. 🤔 Why is ITFC Important? Many children in the foster system have experienced deep traumas and challenges that require an extra level of care. Many of these children may end up in an institutional setting if left without therapeutic help. ITFC offers them a chance to heal and develop in a family environment and avoid becoming institutionalized. 🌟 Be a Part of the Change ITFC is a vital step in cultivating a bright future for these children. Are you interested in making a difference in a child's life? Consider becoming an ITFC foster parent. It's a role that comes with challenges, but the rewards are immeasurable. You can provide the love, support, and stability these children need to flourish. Let's work together to create brighter futures, one child at a time! #ITFC #FosterCareAwareness #MakeADifference #FosterParenting #HealingHomes #ChildWelfare

Did You Know? #Foster #care plays a critical role in the lives of thousands of #children across #Georgia. At Camp Horizon, we are dedicated to #empowering #youth impacted by foster care, helping them #grow and #thrive in a supportive #community. Here are some important facts about #foster #care in #Georgia: 💡 Over 12,000 children are in foster care in Georgia at any given time. Many of these children are between ages 5 and 18, with teenagers representing about 20-25% of the foster care population. 💡 On average, children spend around 20 months in foster care before being reunited with family or placed in a permanent home. 💡 Every year, approximately 700-800 young adults age out of foster care in Georgia without a permanent family. 💡 Georgia is committed to keeping siblings together in foster placements, though challenges remain in finding families for sibling groups. 💡 Fewer than 3% of foster youth earn a college degree by age 25, highlighting the need for stronger educational support. 💡 Around 1,500 children are adopted from foster care in Georgia each year, but many older youth continue to wait for permanent homes. 💡 60-70% of children in foster care experience trauma-related mental health challenges, requiring specialized care and resources. 💡 Reunification is the primary goal for most foster care cases, with about half of the children leaving foster care returning to their biological families. At Camp Horizon, we are proud to provide a #safe #space where #foster #youth can build #resilience, develop #life #skills, and create lasting #connections. 💙 Want to help? 🙏 Consider supporting our #mission by becoming a #mentor, #volunteering, or making a #donation to help fund our year-round #programs for youth impacted by foster care. #FosterCareAwareness #EmpowerYouth #CampHorizonStrong #SupportFosterYouth #FosterCareGeorgia

https://lnkd.in/eRpavyaE Part of this narrative is how crucial it is to understand that foster carers never have parental responsibility. We are so often pitched as foster ‘parents’, by providers, the government, marketing departments, recruitment drives and organisations with politically driven agendas, however, the reality is we are fostering families, we are foster carers. 👉So let’s celebrate being a very good version of what we are to these children and stop trying to replace their parents, something that causes untold damage, attachment issues, problems in adolescence and breakdowns in foster care. #FosterWiki #FosterCare #FosterCarer #FosteringFamilies

The foster care system can be difficult to navigate for both the children and foster parents involved. Many children raised within the system face internal struggles as they try to find stability, love and acceptance. If you were a foster child who had to move from home to home, it can be hard to feel secure. You may struggle with feelings of abandonment, low self-esteem and trust issues. The system needs improvement to better support these vulnerable youth. Let's raise awareness of the challenges foster youth endure. #fostercare #fosteryouth #fostercarematters

video: -What’s causing the foster care crisis — and how to fix it Stand Together -CarePortal founder and president Adrien Lewis -CarePortal technology bridges the gap between social service agencies and the community, ensuring timely assistance for families with immediate needs. -There are over 400,000 kids in the U.S. foster system, and many people think that’s because those children have “bad” parents. Adrien Lewis, founder and president of CarePortal, knows that that’s often not the case. -In many instances, it’s not abuse that’s fueling the foster care crisis, but rather neglect stemming from the overwhelming effects of poverty in America’s families. Many parents are struggling to secure the vital means and support they need to provide for their family’s basic needs, and the system punishes them for it. That’s where CarePortal steps in. -CarePortal technology bridges the gap between social service agencies and the community, ensuring timely assistance for families with immediate needs. Members of the community can directly respond to alerts about families in need, providing tangible resources that can potentially prevent children from being placed in foster care. CarePortal has already made significant strides, currently operating in 30 states and aiding over 200,000 children and their families. https://lnkd.in/d_-TKYd9 https://lnkd.in/d_-TKYd9
