During Covid, I chose to go back to university. I enrolled in UNSW Master of Cyber Security, and at the end of 2023, I completed my final subject. On January 31, I got my official notification of graduation in "Master of Cyber Security with Excellence, Security Engineering" with a WAM 88.4. Over two years, I spent most of my nonwork life studying and helping other students, and I have enjoyed my time. I have made new friends and developed a community on Discord to support each other with our studies. I want to thank all teachers, staff, and fellow students for their support, friendship, and knowledge sharing. People often ask how you find time for study and work. Here is my view: find a topic you enjoy and friends to share it with, and the time will come. The most challenging subject for me was Ethics; if you have never studied social science and are a techie, it can be challenging, but you learn a lot. For the most enjoyable subject, it's not one by many. Pen Testing, C, and Reverse Engineering are at the top of the list, but almost all the engineering tracks would be on that list. Most subjects require us to complete personal challenge projects, like mini research projects. Hello Linkedin, How are you doing? I am looking into graduate programs other than mathematics Master's degree programs. I am thinking about doing a cybersecurity master's degree program, and I found some good universities offer the degree for online study. This way it is flexible so I can work during the day or night then go into class mode when I get home. Talk about an extremely pleasant tech overload! 🤯💻 Picture this: About a month ago, I'm on a train, fresh from a Women in Tech conference (a gift from Talenti), cramming for my GSEC exam (thanks WiCyS and SANS!), when suddenly...DING! 📱 O'Reilly has graciously awarded me a year-long scholarship to their learning platform. I nearly dropped my phone. Now I'm diving headfirst into Malware Analysis, Binary Shenanigans, and Reverse Engineering. It's like being a kid in a candy store if the candy were made of code and potential security breaches! Seriously though, Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering - it's my dream to transition into these cybersecurity fields, and now I have a wealth of resources at my fingertips. “Strengthening the federal cyber workforce is one of the main priorities of the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy. The National Science Foundation’s CyberCorps Scholarship-for-Service program is a direct cyber talent pipeline into the federal workforce. As the program tries to satisfy increasing needs for cyber talent, it is apparent that some form of program expansion is needed. This policy brief summarizes trends from participating institutions to understand how the program might expand and illustrates a potential future artificial intelligence (AI) federal scholarship-for-service program.”
