When federal agents were raiding the Los Angeles and Miami homes of Sean “Diddy” Combs on Monday, March 25, the disgraced music mogul was nowhere in sight. Left to face the law enforcement personnel searching the L.A. home were his sons, Justin, 30, and Christian, 25, while Diddy’s private jet apparently had left the country. The search by federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations was conducted in connection to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and involvement in the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms. The warrant for the raid originated from the Southern District of New York, NBC News reports. Read further: https://lnkd.in/e7nsmPFv

Shedding Light on Urgent Issues: From Child Trafficking to Online Predators: In the wake of recent news regarding the arrest of Reverend and 14 other men in Texas for targeting minors online, it's more crucial than ever to address the intersecting issues of child trafficking and online exploitation. I recently collaborated with my classmates at Drew University on a project focusing on unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S. border, which also highlighted the pervasive threat of child trafficking. Our article, published on WorldPoliticsDataLab.org, explores the challenges and implications surrounding this pressing human rights issue. Now, with the news of Operation Home Alone 2024 leading to the arrests in Texas, we're reminded of the real dangers facing vulnerable youth both online and offline. The charges filed against these individuals serve as a stark reminder of the importance of raising awareness and taking action to protect our children. As we continue to share our findings and engage in conversations about these critical issues, I invite you to join us in advocating for the safety and well-being of all children. Let's work together to combat child trafficking, online exploitation, and ensure justice for victims. #HumanRights #ChildTrafficking #OnlineSafety Read our article here: https://lnkd.in/dafiG7ST Learn more about Operation Home Alone 2024 below:
A reverend and 14 other men have been arrested in Texas for using the internet to target minors for sexual purposes. Led by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, multiple agencies in the state stepped in to support the operation that lasted three days. OUR Rescue provided resources to law enforcement. In addition to the arrests, investigators seized 13.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two firearms, and several electronic devices that will be examined. I. Am. Disgusted. Not only did she REFUSE to say Officer Diller's name, but she blamed the GUN!! REPOST for exposure!! When asked to comment on NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller's death, Karine Jean-Pierre blamed the gun - and not the criminal who EXECUTED Officer Diller. And that criminal wasn't even legally allowed to own a gun in New York. He had 21 arrests, including nine felonies. #thinblueline #lawenforcement

As usual, the problem with this ruling won’t be the ability to change laws in any state, it will be the ENFORCEMENT of said laws. Plenty of states already have mandates to remove guns from domestic abusers post arrest, but they have no mechanism, or checks and balances, for how that works in application. The police often refuse to take guns, same with the courts, predominantly for a lack of storage space. In rare cases police will ensure an abuser leaves them in the “custody” of friends or family, but they are not the vigilant custodians society requires. They can be talked into surrendering the guns back to the abuser, or can be stolen back. If laws are going to be put in place for the safety of victims and society, knowing how many DV abusers go on to commit mass shootings, we must add teeth to the laws to guarantee they are effective.

The answer is B. The address on the warrant is irrelevant to inherent authority set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court in Payton v NY. Many people misunderstand Payton and think it only applies to felony warrants but the authority is carried by any warrant for an arrest. Police officers are required to do investigate and cite facts as to why they believe that the person now resides at the new address. Bills and leases in the wanted persons name. Their vehicle’s located there. Testimony from neighbors or known associates etc. We really want to do a good job collecting as much info as possible to show the courts that we exhausted all efforts to ensure that the person did in fact live there. What separates an arrest warrants authority from a search warrant is police are allowed to enter into the residence of a person who has a warrant for their arrest based on probable cause (even though the courts cite RS). This allows police to arrest the person and then leave the residence. If during the execution of the arrest warrant police, who are in a lawfully permitted area, view illegal contraband they may seize the contraband in plain view and apply for a search warrant for the rest of the home. Don’t forget a house is not an automobile. There isn’t a bright line exception to not need a warrant. Another case everyone should read is Steagald v US. This protects third party homes from the inherent authority of Payton v NY. In a third party home where the suspect is located police would need consent, exigency, or an additional search warrant to enter into that house to search for the person who has the warrant for their arrest.
When there is an arrest warrant issued for a suspect and the police discover that the address he now resides at is different than the address on the warrant, does it still carry the inherent authority to enter into that residence to arrest that suspect under Payton v New York?

GOT HIM - now he needs to be exposed! Police say Anthony Jones, 29, was arrested Thursday in San Diego on two counts of attempted mųrder. REPOST for exposure!! He attacked two women last Saturday near the Venice Canals in LA, and Mary Klein, 54, had her face smashed. Of course you didn’t hear about this because it doesn’t fit the media's narrative. #thinblueline #lawenforcement
