Lauryn Hill broke records at the 41st annual GRAMMY Awards in 1998, earning 10 nominations, and winning five, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year for "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." "In the face of things that will dehumanize you, the antidote is becoming more Human" - Maryam hasnaa At -tauhidi In a few hours I have the pleasure in speaking at Lake Highland Alumni Association with fellow Black Trailblazers including John Devine, Shamir Duverseau, Jacinta C. Mathis, & Ryanna Mowatt focusing on a numerous amount of topics. One of the topics that will be emphasized in our conversation, will be asking “How do we connect with each other and ourselves?” How does “Being Human” relate to the world around us? If you are looking for me to provide you the “end all answer,” I must admit, I do not have one. I do though have an opinion that begins to slowly peel back the answer to this question. For how can we be Human in a world that pushes us to aggressively connect technologically, but can leave us so empty emotionally? For me “Being Human” means to be Perfectly imperfect. It means to make a Masterpiece out of the “Mess.” It means to show up authentically when it’s not necessarily accepted or choosing oneself when it is not easy. Being Human also means being accepted for all that you are, and more importantly for all that you are not. It means In a World of Computer Screens… - I hope that you have people around you that allows you to feel Seen. It means that when the algorithm pushes your posts because of the number of likes…I hope that it never shadows your ability to Like yourself...to Love yourself in your own life. I want to take this moment to honor the people…that in spite of the ways society may try to dehumanize - thank you for holding the space, that allows me to be Human. ❤️🔥 -Sincera EarlAlexander Mitchell Frank O. Continuing our journey into the influence of Black Music on consumer trends, today's focus shifts to the authenticity and relatability of these genres and their strategic use in marketing. Jazz, blues, hip-hop, and R&B not only shape brand identities but also foster a genuine connection with the Black community by reflecting their real-life stories and emotions. However, leveraging this influence in marketing demands a careful balance to avoid cultural appropriation and ensure representation feels respectful and authentic. Successful integration involves understanding the music's cultural significance, engaging with Black artists, and aligning choices with brand values. This respectful approach enhances brand relevance, supports economic empowerment, and avoids stereotypes, demonstrating the power of Black Music in creating meaningful consumer engagement while honoring its rich cultural legacy. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackMusic #MarketResearch #ConsumerTrends #MRX #Marketing

What Can We Learn From Taylor Swift's Record-Breaking Grammy? As most of us heard, Taylor Swift broke the record as the first artist to win 4 Grammys for Album of the Year, quite an accomplishment, especially at age 34! In her acceptance speech, she said she’d love to say that this was the best moment in her life, but she feels this happy when she finishes a song, cracks the code on a bridge (a transition that builds tension in a song) she loves, or when she’s rehearsing with her dancers or band. To Taylor, the award is the work. Fame and glory aside, I was struck by Taylor’s passion for her work, her appreciation for the many moments of joy in her life, and her ability to be aware and present in everyday life. So I asked myself, where in my life is the award the work itself? I landed on my resilience workshops – A Shot of Resilience, An Extra Dose of Resilience, and Always Resilient. I love when a group member tries a new strategy, looks at a challenge in a different way, is energized by a new insight, or gets “unstuck.” Or, when other group members share how they managed a similar challenge, what worked for them, and magically, it all comes together and makes a huge difference. Truth be told, it's the cherry on top and feels great when a group member sends me a note of thanks or shares how they love being part of our “tribe.” But the bottom line is whether I helped them take a step forward, that’s what it’s all about for me. Where in your life is the reward the work? Comment below - I’d love to hear from you! I may not have a Grammy for you, but what you’ve got is even better! Taylor would agree. “The reward for work well-done is the opportunity to do more.” - Jonas Salk https://lnkd.in/gMvE793p #CoachingForResilience #Resilience #Reward #HardWork #Motivation

Jay-Z's Grammy speech is a profound lesson on recognition and resilience, especially poignant during Black History Month. He highlighted an unsettling truth: Beyoncé, despite her record Grammy wins, has never received the Album of the Year award. "So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work." This speaks volumes about systemic issues and the moving goalposts for people of color, especially Black women. It's a call to value our vision over validation, to stand firm in our purpose despite external perceptions. Here are key takeaways: ✔Your Worth Is Beyond Awards: Don't let accolades define your value; your true worth lies in your purpose and impact. ✔Show Up Authentically: Create spaces where your voice is heard and your authenticity shines. ✔Resilience Is Key: Face systemic barriers with strength; your talents will pave the way for recognition. ✔Believe in Your Vision: Keep pushing towards your dreams with conviction and consistency. Remember, "You gotta keep showing up until they call you chairman, until they call you genius, until they call you greatest of all time." Let's not wait for validation; let our work, our talent, and our persistence make the statement. Keep showing up, every day, in every way.
