The data is fairly unanimous, we are confronting a perilous increase in demand for clinicians and a dramatic decline in supply. This gap will impact every single one of us as we seek access to quality healthcare. Adventist HealthCare is diligently doing its part to bridge the gap. Here are just some of the ways- 1. Ensuring clinicians have a great work environment. This has earned the organization multiple awards. 2. Incentivizing people to enter healthcare and lowering financial barriers to entry. Examples include - The Lucy Byard Scholarship (https://lnkd.in/eWTW4kvB), The CNA Academy (https://lnkd.in/e_TAw2kd), a partnership with Montgomery College (https://lnkd.in/e4h7MJ9c), and multiple in-service skills development programs. 3. Developing technologies and solutions to mitigate the demand on clinical time. See as an example the Agado Live collaboration (https://lnkd.in/enJ-X-bS). No singular initiative will remedy the situation alone. However, a holistic approach to addressing growing strain experienced by healthcare settings offers us hope for the future. I am proud to be part of the AHC system which is anticipating the future, by creating it!

💭 Too often, healthcare education happens in a bubble, disconnected from the communities our learners and graduates will serve. This can result in a workforce ill-equipped to address real-world health challenges, particularly in underserved areas. The consequences are severe… persistent health disparities, mistrust in the healthcare system, and missed opportunities for meaningful community health improvements. Part of the solution is to transform our approach to healthcare education by embracing community engagement and collaboration. This means: 1. Developing partnerships with diverse community organizations 2. Incorporating community voices in curriculum development 3. Providing students with meaningful community-based learning experiences 4. Preparing students to be advocates for community and population health initiatives, not just individual patients By choosing this path, we can enhance students' cultural competence and humility, which can help to improve community trust in healthcare institutions. We either continue with the traditional, siloed approach to healthcare education, or embrace a model that truly prepares students for the complexities of community health. Which will you choose? You can explore more strategies for integrating community engagement in healthcare education in my upcoming book "SHIFT: A Practical Guide to Cultivating Equity and Inclusion in Health Profession Programs." 🔮 “Whore-o-Scope Creep” Brought to you by ABC News “fake news” and The Bachelorette 🥀 On Tuesday, American Academy of Physician Associates sent a letter to the American Medical Association confronting its unjust and harmful attacks on PAs and other healthcare providers. Our letter called on the AMA to cease its divisive "scope creep" campaign and join us in a meaningful dialogue to strengthen and unify the healthcare system. This letter is more than just a response; it is a call to action. It is a demonstration of our value and our dedication to a healthcare system that prioritizes high-quality patient care over outdated hierarchies. Key Excerpts from the Letter: On the Role of PAs: "PAs play an indispensable role in addressing healthcare disparities and ensuring equitable access to care. Our rigorous training 👀 (do doctors think students that take time off PA school to film on abc Bachelorette 🥀fake news media should be trusted?) commitment to lifelong learning enable us to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across every medical specialty." Welp, we can start by making PA students complete their clinical rotations instead of letting them go “Down Under” to film lame dates🎥 😆🥀🤷🏻♀️🧿 See thru crystal balls! Some docs might think these kids aren’t taking their career or patients seriously. As they say “Mental Health Matters”
