One week into a new UK government and we have just released a super timely report on ‘Making Transport Fit for the Future’. The report identifies 3 building blocks that are easy to communicate to new ministers, decision makers and the industry about creating a better transport future. 1.      Ruthlessly pursue 'Strong Foundations' that address customer needs now by making transport affordable, reliable, convenient, safe and accessible sustainable… think like the Manchester Bee Network or the London Superloop. 2.      Have a 'Visionary Outlook' that delivers a long-term transport future that is ‘low carbon’, ‘equitable’ and ‘supports a thriving economy’… autonomous bus trials in Edinburgh and the use of biometrics on the Eurostar are great examples. 3.      Be part of a 'Bold Transition' that embraces change, drives innovation and fosters a culture of experimentation. Slovakia infrastructural growth finally moving ahead ?

FABEC tripartite meeting in Brussels.   The FABEC tripartite meeting took place on October 17. at the Ministry of Transport in Brussels. The meeting, co-chaired by Koen Milis, General Director of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority, and Claudio Clori-Fugazza, Director of the Luxembourg Air Navigation Administration, was attended by representatives of the states, air navigation services and trade unions. The discussions were very constructive in determining the expectations of the social partners and the strategic orientations of the FABEC. Social dialogue is a sine qua non for FABEC's influence on current and future developments in air navigation services. #LUXANA #FABEC #aviationstrategy #airnavigationservices

I am extremely interested in seeing further deployment of this technology. While I am techno-skeptical in general, if this is a valid technology that can deliver economically sound and perfectly reliable public transport services, we as transport planners must not discourage ourselves from embracing it. Would be great to know more on the outcomes of testing and get the grasp of resulting Capex and Opex figures to get the idea of where this belongs.

The Department for Transport (DfT) have published a consultation on potential reforms to the UK airport slot allocation system. The proposed reforms to the current system are wide-ranging, including changes to the new entrant and use it or lose it rules. https://lnkd.in/e3aFapxt Oxera undertook a behavioural experiment which involved a lab-based simulation comparing the status quo to alternative methods of allocation, including a number of the alternatives being considered by the DfT.
