As I reflect on the stunning spectacle of the total solar eclipse today, I can't help but draw parallels with the journey of finding the right candidate for a job. New mining network orbits While #4G, #LTE & now #5G have been leading the network race, today’s #satcomms are often able handle the full network needs of mines. One of these is STARLINK which is now being used as the primary comms network by some sites – notably GOLD FIELDS’ new #SalaresNorte gold mine in Chile. We also look at Eutelsat OneWeb's LEO constellation & the multi-orbit ecosystem from SES Satellites. Back to 5G & Newmont Corporation is expanding use of nextgen #5Gwireless networks to improve safety underground following a successful trial with Ericsson & Telstra Purple at its #Cadia mine. Boliden recently entered into a deal with RADTONICS, regarding creation of a private industrial 5G network at #Garpenberg. Boliden is also joining the #NorthStar 5G innovation program launched by Ericsson & Telia & is upgrading the existing private 5G network at #Kankberg. Nokia has been chosen by Sigma Lithium Corp. (Nasdaq:SGML) to deploy the first private LTE wireless network in the Americas that supports mining of lithium. Innovative Wireless Technologies (IWT)'s latest enhancement to its portfolio is the Guardian™ #ProximitySystem. Guardian is a RF-based proximity system that resolves customer issues with first-generation #proximitydetection systems based on electromagnetic tech. In March, Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions announced a deal with Solutions Ambra inc., the telecoms integrator & provider of private LTE and 5G networks. Meglab Propulsé par Epiroc is to integrate private LTE/5G network solutions into Canadian mining in partnership with Bell. In Korea, Hanwha Group & KT have signed an MoU to develop #smartmining solutions including 5G & LTE comms. In Brazil, Vale has started to implement, in partnership with vivo, an extension of the reach of the 4G internet signal along the #Carajás Railroad. In Australia, Telstra InfraCo announced that it will partner with a #Karratha-based native title to build two new fibre routes in the #Pilbara. In #Indonesia, Aviat Networks, Inc has a new collaboration agreement with PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk to deliver high speed, ultra-reliable wireless connectivity, private wireless indoor & outdoor networks. Baicells Technologies , a leading provider of 4G LTE & 5G NR cellular network infrastructure, has also announced an agreement with Smartfren. The company that distributes #Starlink in Argentina, Sencinet, has joined forces with #Alvis to offer a 4G LTE private network service. Entel, Chile’s main telecoms company, was at #Exponor 2024 with a solid proposal focused on guaranteeing operational continuity. We also look at Hytera's new #intrinsicallysafe smart device, the PNC460U; plus we review Nerospec SK's #neroMARSHAL that leverages store & forward tech, allowing continuous data collection even in areas without direct network connectivity. Finally, a partnership between MENAR, MTN South Africa & Huawei has laid the foundation for Gugulethu Colliery to integrate 5G tech. #mineconnectivity #futureofmining
