Can we be any more questioning? I see a lot of these “jobs” posting like… LF VFX Requirements Job description Experience Except it doesn’t tell the hiree what the fuck you actually want. Because, like it or not, you’re not the only place they’re applying for and they can’t put a 3,000pg portfolio together to appease 1 of your crockpot interests. Give an example, talk with them, literally ask them “what the hell you want and what the hell you’re looking for”

I keep seeing these misreads of the #videogame situation for AAA gaming. The situation is not about mismanagement or "they don't understand". They DO, and it is profitable for them. It's just not profitable for the devs, anymore. Here are the facts: -Their business is selling their company. Games are an embarrassing side-effect. -Their business model is predicated on mass firing at fixed intervals. -They don't care about retaining experience or skilled workers. -There is always a huge pool of newbies to hire from who will happily bleed for no pay for years before they're burned out. -To them, hiring "newbies" is not a negative. -"Union" in video games means "all these people fired at once".
