Sharing a very interesting (and high potential compensation) AE role I was just made aware of. It's the role where I learned most of what I know about sales. Two good friends of mine are hiring (Rachel Putman and Jack Riker). Multiple open spots. Company: Wunderkind Seniority: medium / high (you have to be very strong to get on the team there these days) Comp potential: you can earn more here than most roles in SaaS, if you’re good What they sell: email marketing software to big ecommerce brands (you’ll sell to CMOs and their teams) The product is expensive because it drives big revenue impact for their customers. (it's VERY fun to sell a product that drives measurable revenue) What I'd do to get an interview: figure out how to get a meeting w Rachel, the hiring manager. I was an AE for a SaaS company at 23. I earn’t over £250k in 12 months. Sales was much harder then. And the value of the £ was stronger! It wasn't a career people were actively chasing. New business wasn’t the same as it is in 2024: We didn’t have automation tools. We didn’t have data enrichment. LinkedIn wasn’t what it was today, not many people were using it. Cadences didn’t exist. Marketing and sales didn’t really communicate and worked in silos. Prospecting was all manual. It wasn't sexy. Here’s how I hit my target: - Had a great relationship with my SDR, we spent a lot of time together - Was religious about calling prospects that previous sales people had worked - Built a backwards sales plan - Did high levels of activity - Built excellent realtionships with prospects - Went to see prospects in person - Always asked lots of questions, was naturally curious - Worked bloody hard... With all the great tech available to us now I'm a big believer that sales is easy if you do the basics well! #sales
