How does MagnetOs perform in lumbar interbody fusion surgery? An ambispective study including a surgical retrospective cohort with prospective PROMs, physical examinations and radiographic studies evaluated fusion rates in sixty-three patients with one-to three-level anterior or lateral interbody fusions with posterior instrumentation. Case #9: Recurrent Incisional Hernia a 50-year-old male presented to the clinic with a history of a previous repair to an incisional hernia following an exploratory laparotomy due to a war injury. The previous surgical repair was done by placing a permanent synthetic mesh. * A small introduction to mesh placement * : There are different options for mesh placement. Onlay (above the fascial defect), inlay (between the fascial edges), sublay (below the fascial defect but above the posterior rectus sheet), and underlay or Intraperitoneal onlay (intraperitoneally below the fascial defect). In the previous surgery, the chosen placement was Onlay ; which has a higher rate of recurrence, is more susceptible to infections, and could cause a chronic Seroma. The patient underwent a second surgical repair where we removed the old mesh, placed a new prolene mesh using - Sublay - placement, and the patient was successfully discharged from the hospital without drains. The surgery was done by Dr. Ali Alshiekh and the collaborational team.
