Among the wide variety of nonprofit hospitals are safety-net hospitals, health systems that see the highest percentage of low-income and uninsured patients. According to America's Essential Hospitals, which represents 300 safety net hospitals, those members represent 5% of all hospitals but account for a quarter of all charitable or free care. In our latest episode, we heard from experts on why regulating nonprofit hospitals could backfire for some of these crucial safety net health systems. We’re out & about today, speaking with Roadchef colleagues up and down the UK about the importance of learning CPR. There are more than 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests each year in the UK, and they can happen anywhere, at any time. Shockingly, the survival rate is less than 1 in 10 – but early CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival. We’re asking Roadchef colleagues to vote for BHF to be their next charity partner!   In partnership, we will help save lives today, by training Roadchef colleagues in CPR and turning service stations into lifesaving hubs.
