CMMC Level 1 requirements are basic cyber hygiene. These should be the bare minimum for all organizations, not just organizations within the DIB. Protect your networks!
The CMMC Program is broken into three levels, with Level 1 being the most basic. The program will help protect Federal Contract Information (FCI) in accordance with FAR clause 52.204-21. The new rule will allow for DIB organizations to self-assess and attest to their compliance. For more information on these requirements visit https://lnkd.in/eU_ipNCd

The full CMMC program, scoping and assessment guides, were sent to OIRA yesterday. That wraps up the phase where the DoD is making changes to the documents. OIRA will now take about 90-120 days to review and then publish the final rule. That will conclude with about a 60 day buffer period before it takes effect. That puts us right at the end of the year for CMMC to officially take effect. Be on the lookout for the new DFARS clauses to be added to your contacts early next year. Although there is supposed to be a phased approach for adding CMMC to contracts, I've seen no guidance on which contracts would be in which phase, so I expect KOs to be forward-leaning and put it into everything, all at once. That's my pessimistic fear anyway. If you haven't started your CMMC compliance journey yet, do so now. There will be a bottleneck for certifications and there will be time constraints that give you only 6 months to get certified to remain eligible for contract award, and these will coincide with each other. Don't get caught out in the rain without an umbrella. The cost of CMMC compliance doesn't need to be astronomical for your small business. We have right-fit solutions and services that can bring your company into compliance for at least 1/3rd of what NDIA and DoD estimate it will cost. Proposed CMMC rule contains no surprises, but raises some initial questions: The rulemaking is largely what CMMC insiders expected, but it still raises questions, like how the certification program will impact external IT service providers. @Poseidon-US #FederalNewsRadio #Contracting
