Happy EMS Week! Did you know that we have our own EMS team? Audubon EMS provides an EMT (Emergency Medical Technicians) at each of our facilities to provide emergency medical care to our guests and staff during open hours. It's a small team, but they do great work. During EMS week, we want to thank our EMS team for the work they do and all of our other EMS partners in the City of New Orleans.

"Today, I want to talk about a lifesaving technique that everyone should know: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions and rescue breaths to save someone's life when their heart stops beating or is not breathing. It's an essential skill that can make all the difference in a medical emergency. Here are some key points to know about CPR: - CPR should only be performed on someone who is unresponsive and not breathing. - Call emergency services or have someone else call while you begin CPR. - Chest compressions should be at least 2 inches deep and at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. - Give rescue breaths at a rate of one breath every five seconds. Let's all take the time to learn CPR and be prepared to save a life in an emergency! #CPR #Lifesaving #EmergencyPreparedness #FirstAid"

👉🏼Can CPR save someone's life?❓ 🚑 CPR—short for cardiopulmonary resuscitation—is an emergency procedure that can save a person’s life. 💓 The centerpiece of treatment for cardiac arrest is CPR, a technique that uses chest compressions to simulate how the heart pumps. 👨⚕️ You don’t need to be an emergency medical technician (EMT) to perform CPR, but you’ll benefit from a one-time class that will train you in the basics. #LifeSaverCPR #HeartHealthHero #CPRChampion #EmergencyResponse #SaveALife #LearnCPR #BeatToTheBeat #HeartRescueTraining

Important segment on TODAY - with Damar Hamlin and Nancy Brown - demonstrating CPR and AED use. More than 350,000 Americans suffer a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital every year. - 70% happen at home. - Only 10% survive – in part because only 40% of them receive CPR or have someone use an AED before EMS arrives. CPR can double or even triple a person’s chances of surviving – the chance for survival drops 10 percent for every minute that passes without CPR or using an AED

"Do it anyways." - Take a minute and watch this video. A few of the biggest lessons I try to instill in my students (mostly my EMTs-in-training, but I also speak on these things when I teach basic first aid). 1. Patient rapport. 2. You are the best medicine besides actual medicine. 3. You are showing up on someone's worst day, be kind. Sometimes people forget that because we are in the business of people, that it is also the business of helping people. How we treat people is a reflection of who we are, our training, our mentors, our company, our department ... but most importantly how we handle emergencies can help heal or cause our patients more or less pain. #BeKind https://lnkd.in/gJWTF7s8
