There's no denying that teachers' vocal strain and voice problems are occupational hazards. Research shows that teachers are three to five times more likely to experience voice problems than the general population, with 20% of teachers being acutely affected each year. It's not hard to see why. Educators need to speak for a length of time in large, noisy classrooms. Following the above tips will go a long way. Happy Teaching.

Peer observation is a powerful tool in developing teacher efficacy, providing opportunities for educators to learn from one another’s practices. As John Hattie noted, 'You can’t simply watch a teacher and understand how and why they make those decisions; you have to hear them think, evaluate, and adapt.' His words highlight the importance of scheduling time for classroom observations and dedicating time for meaningful discussions. These reflective conversations make the impact. “In my view, the worst thing an expert teacher can do is to invite another teacher to observe them teach, and hand over their resources. That’s very generous, but what matters more is those evaluative decisions that teachers make in the moment. You can’t simply watch a teacher and understand how and why they make those decisions; you have to hear them think, evaluate and adapt.” - John Hattie Source: https://lnkd.in/ePMCedxG

Definitely agree on the quality of the evidence being relied upon. But would also caution that there is robust empirical evidence showing that explicit instruction prior to inquiry is absolutely necessary to build necessary background knowledge. I personally like Andrew Martin’s Load Reduction Instruction which resolves the debate over explicit vs inquiry. It isn’t an either or. It’s a which/when. Ruminating now and I’d add for what and who. Some kids will always benefit from explicit guidance. So yes, back to the central point being made in the paper. Teachers need to know all these ins and outs so that they can use their professional judgement.
Is there a ‘right way’ to teach? Recent debates suggest yes, but students and schools are much more complex

Teacher Efficacy Doctors, engineers, lawyers and every other professional need to update themselves if they have to be successful. What about teachers who shape the future of the country in their classrooms? How can they stay relevant and be successful? Teachers are the core of the educational system and it is pertinent to internalize the science of teaching – learning process and understand the dynamic nature of the child and the curriculum. Today, a teacher is a facilitator. The teacher should be proficient with content and pedagogy He/she should know how to blend pedagogy and content appropriately. Blending subject specific pedagogy with content will enhance the quality of the classroom delivery, nature of learning experiences provided, clarity of content and trigger an interest and arouse curiosity to learn more. So here is some food for thought: What are the different pedagogical approaches in different subjects? How do teachers blend pedagogy with content? Nature/Nurture Debate. Still on it. Intelligence.Have you as an educator noticed that some parents attribute their low children's intelligence quotient to them. They are not far from the truth. However, that is NOT the end of that! A lot can still be done to change this narrative. In this day and age,it's only an ignorant educator that will lay all the blames on the parents doorstep. We actually can do a whole lot to raise the intelligence quotient of our learners to the peak. Of course,we need the involvement of the home- 💯%. Nurturing will include researching on ways to reach the child, using necessary teaching/learning materials, that may otherwise not be needed for other learners to actually capture and retain the interest,as well as succeed with these children in the specific areas that they need assistance. There's absolutely nothing that can't be overturned for good, when we grasp this theory and run with it. Do you have stories to share on this?

Sims et al. (2022) argue that ineffective teacher professional development may have the following characteristics: (1) Knowledge alone; and/or, (2) Neglects to provide teachers with necessary skills; and/or, (3) Does not support teachers with support to embed the changes. Sims, Sam, Harry Fletcher-Wood, Alison O’Mara-Eves, Sarah Cottingham, Claire Stansfield, Josh Goodrich, Jo Van Herwegen, and Jake Anders. (2022). As a teacher who is concerned with upholding and amplifying teacher professionalism, this article resonated with me. ‘Teachers as experts’ in their field should be a widely accepted and acknowledged fact. We are the professionals working directly with the students in today’s classrooms, in a range of different contexts-city, regional, international, EAL, impoverished or well resourced environments. Our experience is key. The message is clear: Teachers must continuously reflect on their practice across a range of environments - as well as be critical consumers of the professional development they are offered. https://lnkd.in/gDVqnUeY #teacherprofessionalism

You have a CGPA of 3.9+ or 4 (out of 4), and if you think you're a teacher material, you're wrong. Yes, you're absolutely wrong. You may ruin someones life out of nowhere. You may ruin someones motivation just because of your inadequate knowledge. 4 out of 4 doesn’t indicate you have vast knowledge. You can be a person who can recite any text book word by word, & still can't make sure the theme of the topics. I've seen many faculty members in my own campus, they're just doing the job but they are not perfect teachers. Students feel frustrated by doing their courses, and feel demotivated. They can't be sure why the teacher is doing such kind of behaviour out of nothing. Delivering the wrong concept, wrong lecture, inadequate example, strict marking, wrong way of evaluation, wrong teaching method, insufficient knowledge, toxic personality.. these are somethings that a teacher must not have. Just one of these things can kill one someone's entire life's dream. An entire motivation can be vanished just by your wrong evaluation techniques. Judging a student quickly is another common feature of nowadays teachers. I don’t know why but teachers (some teachers) think they know everything about human psychology & thus they judge too quickly, too easily. I remember one thing, there is a saying that "The position of Teachers are just next to the Parents". Be someone truly like that. If you can't, then just because of your vast greediness of respect, social status and so on, Please Don't Become a TEACHER. WE DON’T NEED YOU. © N. M. Shahriar
