Reflections of a teacher! Today on 5th September, like every year there were 100s of emails and messages wishing Happy Teachers Day. The question that we teachers need to ask ourselves is - do we really deserve this respect? - Our education system is hardly preparing students for constructive roles in society. See the situation in society. We have no proper vision as to where we want students to be in future! - Outdated syllabi are ruining the aspirations of students and parents. Not even worth talking about it. - Rusted teaching pedagogy with least innovation and absolutely no customization. Still, we want to be respected by students and parents and society in general? Let's, first do our bit to improve educational experience for students and have a vision to build future of students and become enablers of their परमार्थ also. #Reflections of a #teacher

An insightful report worth sparing around 10-15 minutes to read this research by Chartered College of Teaching by Dr Lisa-Maria Müller and Dr Victoria Cook. Some key takeaways for me are policy considerations for Governors especially around Teacher retention and CPD structures for SLT. Also, it is very well referenced for further reading! #teachingprofession #professionalstandards #standards Dame Alison Peacock DL, DLitt

Our new working paper, 'Revisiting the notion of teacher professionalism', sets out our working definition of professionalism, based on three domains: ⚬ cognitive - including collaborative and critical engagement with bodies of knowledge; ⚬ ethical - balancing teachers’ commitment to students with teacher wellbeing ⚬ regulatory - empowering informed autonomy to make decisions based on pupils’ needs and contexts Read the full paper now: https://lnkd.in/dXMgQXSC #Teacher #Teaching #Education #Schools #Classroom #Professionalism #TeachingProfessional #ProfessionalBody #TeacherProfessionalism

Learning is important for educators because teaching methods are changing. Teachers can't rely on old teaching techniques; they should learn and change their teaching methods continuously to meet the student's needs according to the changes we face. #teachersarelifelonglearners

As a teacher who is concerned with upholding and amplifying teacher professionalism, this article resonated with me. ‘Teachers as experts’ in their field should be a widely accepted and acknowledged fact. We are the professionals working directly with the students in today’s classrooms, in a range of different contexts-city, regional, international, EAL, impoverished or well resourced environments. Our experience is key. The message is clear: Teachers must continuously reflect on their practice across a range of environments - as well as be critical consumers of the professional development they are offered. https://lnkd.in/gDVqnUeY #teacherprofessionalism
