Retired Lt. Gen. Arthur Gregg, the US Army's highest-ranking African American officer when he retired in 1981, died Thursday at the age of 96. Gregg #enlisted as a private in 1946, serving for 35 years. Last year, Fort Lee, Virginia, became Fort Gregg-Adams, in honor of him and World War #veteran Lt. Col. Charity Adams.
