The AustCham Singapore SME Committee met last Thursday night at fellow member and host Deviate Wine Bar. The primary focus of this Committee is to facilitate networking between members in similar business situations so opportunities and challenges can be shared, alongside stimulating the conversation where relevant. This meeting, the group heard from Daniel Fitzpatrick, Co-Founder of Via Group who recently worked with AustCham Singapore to create an insights series on Australia’s push into ASEAN: the SME opportunities and watch outs. Daniel shared some of the macro trends that are influencing business in SEA, and noted that there are a lot of opportunities for companies in SEA going into Australia and that businesses in Singapore are at an advantage in terms of creating opportunities due to their understanding of the SEA market. One of the key takeaways from the overall discussion was the power of this network in creating opportunities for each other with everyone sharing the daily struggle of growing a business, while also doing the business. There is recognition of the opportunity to collaborate, to provide high quality delivery, and to further explore these opportunities. Our Committee events are only open to members within the Committee. If you are an AustCham Singapore member but not a part of our Committees yet, find out more about our four Committees and how to get involved here: https://lnkd.in/gQvtvkyA

Did you know that DutchCham is part of the ADCN (the ASEAN Dutch Chamber Network)? ADCN consists of six Dutch Chambers of Commerce (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore) and represents a diverse range of Dutch businesses, cutting across almost every commercial sphere. ADCN connects country networks through regional events and information sharing by and for any person with ties to the Netherlands. As the Dutch Chamber in Singapore, we connect our members to our fellow Dutch Chambers in ASEAN and their members. With a combined population of over 672 million and combined gross domestic product (GDP) of over US$3.6 trillion, ASEAN is a very attractive market. ADCN consists of the following Dutch Chambers: - Malaysia: Malaysian Dutch Business Council (MDBC) - Thailand: Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce (NTCC) - Vietnam: Dutch Business Association Vietnam DBAV 🇳🇱 - Philippines: Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines - Indonesia: DBN - Dutch Business Network Indonesia - Singapore: DutchCham (Dutch Chamber of Commerce Singapore) Interested in learn more about the ADCN and how we cooperate? 🔓 Unlocking the Hidden Power of Business Communities: Chambers, Federations, and Associations in Singapore 🇸🇬 While they may not be as secretive as the image suggests, organizations like Chambers of Commerce, federations, and associations hold significant influence within the business world. They provide platforms for strategic networking, deal-making, and the exchange of valuable insights. I've always been fascinated by their history and purpose, especially those with unique roots like the Dutch business community in Singapore. Did you know the Association of Dutch Business Men started informally in the 1920s near what we now call Holland Village (which fun fact, isn't named after the Dutch!). It even predates the Hollandse School (opened in 1928), which helped Dutch families settle in Singapore. And let's not forget the Hollandse Club, founded in 1908. It's been a social hub for generations, and its diverse membership, with strong international and Singaporean representation, is a sign of its inclusive and dynamic community. The Association of Dutch Business People later merged with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in 2018, further strengthening the links between those interested in Dutch & Singapore business. These groups offer essential support for businesses and professionals: 1. Cultivating strategic connections: These organizations facilitate relationship-building within industries and across markets, often leading to lucrative partnerships 2. Amplifying the collective voice: By uniting businesses, these organizations gain a stronger platform to advocate for shared interests and influence industry-relevant policies. 3. Accessing insider knowledge: Members frequently benefit from exclusive access to market intelligence, industry trends, and other data – providing a potential competitive advantage. So, I'm curious – what's YOUR go-to network or association? Let's share our experiences in the comments! #business #network #singapore #community P.S This is a Video of the DutchCham (Dutch Chamber of Commerce Singapore) AGM Ad Ketelaars Jeroen Vaassen Petra Hemmes Oscar Wezenbeek Ton van den Bosch Godelieve van Dooren Lotte Dunnink Juliëtte van der Burgt, MSc Eline Leussink Serge Krol Rob Boudestijn Chris Devillers Roy Woesthuis

We’ve interviewed our team members Shane & Dirk, who lead the Pacific & Europe offices. Now it’s time to hear from Didier Kassas, our COO & co-founder who runs the MENA region. Let’s find out how accreditation in this region is unique. 1. What makes accreditation in your region different? Accreditation in this region is still not seen as an important part of an event and is usually left as the last priority in the sourcing process. So, we always have to rush to catch up to make sure we are ready. 2. What’s the most common challenge you face? It would be the lack of knowledge that event organizers/clients have. There's this common misconception that anyone can do accreditation. A lot of people don't understand what it is and thus don't appreciate its importance. 3. How do you manage people with different cultures? As a company with a diverse background, we understand the challenges of working with different cultures. Our philosophy is based on respect for one another and that’s the starting point. We are open to discussions and have an open-minded approach to everything we do. We adapt our work and always take specific cultural etiquettes, religious practices, and holidays into consideration. Stay tuned for part 2 next week! #accreditation #MENA
