Australian Department of Home Affairs’ Post

New laws starting 1 July 2024 target employers who exploit temporary migrants. Workplace exploitation covers a range of behaviour, from underpaying workers, threatening to cancel their visa, pressuring them to accept poor living conditions or accept unwanted sexual acts. It is important you get help if you are being exploited at work – reporting early will help you to resolve the issue, and it might also protect other workers from exploitation. You can report anonymously. To find out more about the new laws and how to report exploitation, go to https://lnkd.in/g8xagP7U.

Department should be proactive and do some random checks on different small businesses - i am sure plenty of cases will be there.
