Innovate Eng Founder | We help Ukrainian companies and individuals increase opportunities through English.
Over the last 4 years in Ukraine, I have asked probably over 1,000 Ukrainians how they learned English. Usually, they first answer, "In school," which is rarely the truth. After some digging, they usually admit these different ways: -Media (TV shows, Movies, YouTube, etc) -Social Media -Private Tutoring -Experience Working With Foreigners -Living Abroad or Traveling -English Courses The sad reality is that most Ukrainians aren't fortunate to have good teachers at school and many learn English incorrectly. Generally, almost all of them have to self-educate by either seeking English themselves or by exposure through experiences. Regardless, if you want to learn English, you absolutely must take a stake in your English learning. In my experience, this usually means it needs to be tied to your income, finances, reputation, or passion.

Innovator with passion and experience in refugee & immigrant integration, youth development, and local food systems!
World Learning is developing an online certificate program for Teaching English to Refugees which will be accredited by our higher education institution, SIT Graduate Institute. They would appreciate your help with a brief needs assessment to ensure that the certificate program responds to the needs of refugee English language learners and their teachers. Linked below is a survey for current and aspiring teachers teaching English to refugees and those who coordinate, manage and or support English Language programs for refugees. If this is not you, but you know others who fit the description, please pass the survey along! The survey has twelve questions. It will take about ten minutes to complete, depending on how much respondents wish to share in the open-ended questions. https://lnkd.in/eSWejMxW BONUS: All survey recipients who complete the survey by midnight EST on February 18, 2024, will automatically be entered into a pool from which we will select participants for the free pilot program, planned for later this year. (If you are not teaching nor planning to teach yourself, and you are chosen, you can give your place to one of your staff or partners.) Thank you so much for your time and contribution to this important work!

Learning the language of the country an immigrant or refugee is living in can help the refugee or immigrant provide for themselves and their families while also finding community connections. Nothing is more isolating than being unable to communicate with people around you. TEFL refers to teaching English to non-native English speakers in non-native-English-speaking countries. TESOL is teaching English to non-native speakers in both non-native and native English-speaking countries (tefl.org). #engagingtheworld #missions #prayer
