I'm a member of the the Golf Power Poll panel and this month the questions were about money in golf. One of the questions was concerning whether the vast amount of money 🤑 currently in professional golf is having an adverse effect on fans' interest - i.e., are fans actually turning off as purses astronomically increase? In my case, yes. And, according to the Power Poll results I am not alone in this opinion. Personally, I am less than excited about the 'Signature' events - a few are fine, but 8 is way too many - especially in this schedule shorten #Olympic year. Nick Dunlap winning twice on the PGA TOUR - once as an amateur - emphasizes the fact that ANYONE in the field can win and I (along with the players ranked 51-125/150) would like to see the return to more full field events - WITH more of the Top 50 in those fields. Or as a compromise to the 'elephant in the room' as the only time that LIV's top players now play against PGA TOUR & DP World Tour is the Majors – take 4 of those 8 Signature events and have 1/2 the field be LIV Golf players and half PGA Tour/ DP World Tour players with full OGWR points & the same purses (with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) contributing) so there starts to be some true relevance on who the best players actually are. Teamwork. Strategy. Resilience. Grit. I'm thrilled that my favorite rider, Tadej Pogacar, won the 2024 Tour de France yesterday, his third Yellow Jersey in five years. What a rider! Why post about the Tour de France? It spans 21 days and roughly 2200 miles. You and the team need to perform every single day, just as you and your business team are required to show up each day. It ends with an individual time trial, and time trials are referred to as "the race of truth." Why? The time trial is the most authentic presentation of these riders' skills. Pogacar won the 21st and final stage, a time trial stage, by over 1 minute. Teamwork- yes, because even though an individual rider wins, they only have a chance to do so with a solid, well performing team to support them. Watching the finish this year was strange. Because of the preparation for the Summer Olympics, this was the first time in 111 years that the race did not end on the Paris’ Champs-Élysées. The final stage was Monaco to Nice. Did you know that? 👇 A Mexican by name of Enrique Corcuera is believed to be the founder of padel - by accident 😁 How did he came up with the idea? Well, Corcuera built a court to play tennis at his home in Acapulco in the late 1960s. Not long after, he found that if tennis balls were overhit, which was the case most of the time, they would go all over the place and into neighbouring houses. To prevent this from happening, Corcuera figured, why not surround the court with fences on all sides 💡 However, with these adjustments in place, he still faced some problems as normal tennis rackets generated too much power for the small court 💥 Corcuera and his friends eventually exchanged their tennis rackets for a wooden beach paddle bat. Later, a rulebook evolved, which allowed the players to play off walls, and the rest is history! Fast forward to 2024 where padel has become one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide.
