We were provided the opportunity for a donation of 20+ suitcases (and a full tub of toiletries); which, is not our exact "lane" when working with foster youth; so, we brought them to the amazing OCJ Kids for foster youth aging out of group homes. Last month in Ndola, Zambia, DeafKidz International hosted a Parent's Workshop. The workshop provided a much-needed platform for parents to share their challenges and learn about safeguarding, protection, and empowering their children with vital skills. Sixty parents attended the workshop where they had the chance to see their children engage in programs previously accessible only to hearing children. The session allowed parents to discuss ... - The need for continuous support through initiatives like DeafKidz Defenders. - Practical solutions for safe transportation to prevent abuse. - Shared challenges that both parents and their children face. Community mapping emerged as a crucial step, encouraging parents to identify local resources and entities for comprehensive support beyond financial aid, including educational and counselling services.
